So! Who's up for it? (all rights reserved by M.P.O.) Details HERE! and AT THE OFFICIAL SITE!
Fingers crossed! See how things pan out; but delighted to see it's a different route to explore other parts of beautiful Wiltshire! Andi
Registration forms on the website xxxxx be lovely to see you all again xxx two more lhsf events to be announced shortly xx
Ah well.. Ah well if Ron Peploe's signed up for this I'll have to stretch my weary limbs for charity again I suppose. Perhaps I can hitch a lift in his camper van? Andi ps Kat - what's the other LHSF stuff coming up? Is there a Snowdon this year - was thinking of doing the miners route up this time? pps Ian Croppers - are you going? Colin, Joy, Big Chris etc?
Hi Andy, we are still mulling it over. We would love to go, just waiting to see what things pan out for the summer. Excuse my ignorance but who's Ron Peploe?
Ron Peploe Ron's a great local musician [not forgetting Debbie his partner in The Lovelees]who encourages open mics & gigs here. He was Nick's human capo last year in Basingstoke. I'll ask him if he's set up a Just Giving a/c yet for Avebury. http://www.myspace.com/music/player?sid=43962905&ac=now Hopefully see you back to the stones! Andi
Confirmation today (as Nick sneakily announced at the Half Moon last week ) that the Levellers Acoustic will be headlining Avebury this year
Registration form for the walk is available at www.lovehopestrength.co.uk and also if you take part in the walk you get automatic entrance into the gig
Excellent article out this week - looks like Cy and Jamie from the Fixx are back this year and Mike Peters will be along too, and yes the Levs are headlining  Well done Harpic! http://www.marlboroughnewsonline.co.uk/the-levellers-to-headline-avebury-rocks-festival
Funny ... the day you decide to go ( or at least do something about it ) is the day I decide not to ( but those events are NOT related !!! ) ... I've already sent my application off ... but this year, I'm just not up for it ... my mates decided early on that they wouldn't do it again ... but assured me that they'd still join me in for my training walks ... but alas those haven't really happened. But also the date is just not good for us ( wasn't last year - but we made an exception ) as it's the same weekend as our local pub have their beer festival & a neighbouring village have a small music festival. Now I know Nick's cause is greater ( that's why they can keep my money ); but these local festivals need all the support they can get too ... they won't take anywhere near the £30K that Averybury raises .... but they need my money as much as anyone does - I believe you have to support local events/pubs otherwise they'll stop and soon go out of business ... and then where would we be ... we'd have to go into town ( & hang out with the young folk ) for our beers !!
I'm sad you won't be there Chris :crying: You will be missed! But I do understand what you mean. For me, one of my dear friends up here was going to come down with me this year to celebrate keeping his colon cancer at bay, but it's no longer under control through chemo, so I'm doing it for both of us this year... For those going, I've updated the first post with the new official site URL: http://www.aveburyrocks.org/ And it looks like a very different route this year... how cool to be going via West Kennet Long Barrow and the White Horse  Also, if you only want to do the afternoon walk, it's down to 5 miles rather than 6 if that's an incentive
If anyone's got a few pence lying around here or there... http://www.justgiving.com/paularocksavebury2
I'm going again this year. Looking forward to seeing everyone! I haven't done much in the way of training walks yet! I have been running regularly though, so fingers crossed I'll be okay. Did anybody manage to sort out camping after Avebury last year? I had to drive back to Bristol last year, but would like to hang around longer this year. Expecting all the B&Bs to be booked up / too expensive. Jon
Our Just giving page for Avebury this year, if anyone could spare a few pounds. Thanks , Colin & Joy http://www.justgiving.com/colin-Lane
