I do love discovering new music, not new in the sense that artists are just starting out, but new to me, Luka Bloom was one such artist I discovered on this forum, a recommendation from Nick I recall. Another artist was John Martyn, I hadn't heard much of his stuff until Bob Jacobs steered me in the right direction, of which albums to start with etc.

I have been listening to the John Butler Trio recently, and again I really like his acoustic guitar playing and he's a brilliant original songwriter too, would love to hear any more recommendations from Stormcockers of original talented guitar based artists..

    Cheers, Shaun

Guitar players may like this! :m8:

    Jbt!

Wow! Is he picking the guitar with long fingernails on both hands? Are they falsies?

The one I would recommend which I keep losing is the Scandinavian tapper guitarist whose name I always forget..it's in the archives of my brain somewhere.

Travellerman Aye lad, I knew you had it in you

I've seen the JBT a few times and they are really good, I'm not sure who is in the Trio now as he's changed the rossiter again!

But... if you're liking him then you need to check out Xavier Rudd too (I think he holds my personal record for best ever gig). I thought I'd posted JBT and XR recommendations before :confused1: :D

    * Here ya go, http://www.stormcock.net/vb/showthread.php?t=569 there's few links there to JBT and XR. hth

    thanks for that wrexy..

Wasn't the one I was thinking of though; although quite similar in parts. It was the first long track on one of his albums and just blew me away on first listen.

Discovered Steve Vai 26 years ago, he was the "stunt gutarist" for FZ. An amazingly talented virtuoso guitarist, I'm not using this thread to promote vids, but if even if you've not heard any of these names before, this video is for total music/guitar fans, I've had years enjoyment listening to this stuff, I hope you enjoy as much as I do!
