The vinyl side one of Stormcock, Hors d'Ouvres and The Same old Rock is truly magnificent. For me certainly the best side.

    New Poll?

How about a poll asking us web contributors (me recently promoted, did you notice? From zappies, passed my driving test as computer stained and so on, and and on...) which Conspiracy Theories some of us believe in from Princess Di's death (murder?) to aliens landing millions of years ago to 9/11 to Kennedy's assassination etc.

    Conspiracy Theories or Facts

I was of the opinion that the 9/11 Conspiracy was almost a proven fact.

The removal of thermate damaged steel from the site and shipment to China in great haste denied any chance of forensic analysis. Fortunately several people did take samples as the site was being cleared. WTC7 being provably the obvious evidence that controlled demolition took place.

Some people have said that the twin towers couldn't have been brought down by explosives but there is clear evidence that the buildings were dangerous and that the political consequences of them being condemned as they were strategic landmarks was too compelling. The cock up was that they didn't get the people out and when the explosives were set off by people in WTC7, they collapsed as if under free fall conditions. No one died in WTC7.

Building seven conveniently held all the SE evidence amassed against Enron etc for insider dealing. All gone in a puff of thermate.

The one trouble I have with conspiracy theories is that they require the government to be both 'comptetent' and 'in control'.

I work in a government department, and can assure you that in my department I see absolutely no evidence of competence - or indeed vision. Most of the time they are too busy trying to tuck up their own staff and climb the greasy pole to the top!

'Pro active' cover ups are, by and large, clumsy, transparent and self defeating. WMDs has to be the best example, and burying bad news in 9/11. Crass, obvious, and in the long run, ineffective!

Most of the time, cover-ups occur where someone has made a b*lls up and they are just trying to smoke-screen their way out of it. 25 million tax records lost? ... it was a junior clerk, it was TNT, the head Honcho resigns... but they never address the systemic failures in the system which made this inveitable.

The US is now run by big corporations who are minting it in Iraq and they can do stuff efficiently viz controlled demolition - best promo for collapsing a building with no casualties WTC7 and all thos valuable records conveniently lost that would have nailed the insider dealing pre 9/11!!!

HMRC is grossly inefficient because of the way that the system treats its people. The guy who sent out the data broke the procedure but where were the controls and which one of the miserable noname barsteads told him to do it?
