Well this song was the original reason, why I first visited Clonakilty ( some 10+ years ago !! ) ... to see if the pub was as good as the song makes out. The first time I went, the town were having a country and western festival ( not sure what time of year it was ... just glad that I've never managed to hit that same weekend again !! ) and The Kilty Stone was done up as the Sherrifs Jailhouse ... so it was a tad difficult to see the pub in it's true colours. The next time I visted the pub ... it didn't resemble the song at all ... it had been converted into a lager drinking sports pub !! The bloke running it ( can't in the life of me remember his name ) was a a good laugh and we have seen some cracking gigs in the back ... the most memorable being John Spilliane at the Guitar Festival a few years back. But anyway ... the reasion for this thread ... is that if there is aanyone out there also wondering what the pub is like and maybe planning a trip over to Clon ... then you are too late !! It's now an offy !! But please don't let that put you off ... as Clon has another 15 pubs ( plus 5 hotels ) all within a 5 minute crawl ... and most of them are certainly worth a visit ... which we did last week !!

Hehe, thanks for this Chris, because I was about to add the Kilty to my itinerary for an upcoming holiday in Ireland! Still, might be a good place to visit.
