He strums the intro better than I do. Plus he is getting the full chord for the difficult "third position" chord which I can't always hit but I'm not using a capo which would make it easier. So his sounds better. Which just makes what Nick manages to do with his much smaller hands than my two shovels all the more amazing. So thanks for that I hadn't noticed I was strumming the intro wrong. ttfn ps I tried to leave a link in the comments to this Thread but it wasn't working for me as someone was asking for the chords.
that wud be me!! i just stumbled on this site and the video on youtube is me, please forgive the bad singing!!! stay cool justthebo
Well.. Well you've stumbled into the right field for Harper stuff mate..it's your lucky day! chrs andi
haha seems ya right there like!.........does anyone have any nick tabs?? anything at all? little snippets youve worked out? nick chords or riffs? does anyone have the 'she rules my world' tab off rooben?? maybe we cud start a works in progress thing? ive just been having a go at aeroplane and its starts with a c chord ( in nicks super low standard tuning ) then a bm chord........... c remembering my dad bm grabbing hold of my feet spinning me round........ maybe i shud of started new threads with all of this........ easy
Hello there! Lovely to have you on board :seeya: Rooben (big Nick fan from Glasgow) had a site with Nick tabs, but it seems to be down - let me see if I can get in touch with him or find the archived version of it on the Wayback Machine  (it's rooben.com if anyone wants to look!)
The beginning of this thread has a link to one of Rooben's PDFs of The Verse Time Forgot I also have a copy of Riverside but I'm not sure if I have posted that up here in another thread. I shall check it out tonight and get it scanned if I haven't done it already. All the best
Maybe EAEAC#E would work, with a capo on the 5th? I'm not a fan of tuning strings up from standard though. I have no cutaway so high fret access could be an issue. With a capo at the 7th, it's a nightmare. Always going to be missing that low thump too. Been thinking about an 'affordable' Nick copy guitar without resorting to Lowden. The Lag Autum Jumbos look the part, plus they have a pinless bridge and a solid cedar top. Just add some banjo pegs and see if Newtone will sell me a set of Nick Harper strings...
Sounds fine for solo practice but how do you get along with singing that or playing along with the record?
I seem to be able to sing it ok (although others may well disagree with that statement  ) but obviously you can't play along to the CD as it's in a completely different key. I see Justthebo on Youtube plays it with a capo and has a cutaway so I'm guessing he is in the same key as Mr Harpic. My tuning is open strings and as I like you don't have a cutaway on my guitar it gets round that problem.
Good stuff Gray! If I close my eyes and listen to your voice it is so Harperesque! cheers and have a happy one! Andi
not sure if im in the right key i just capo up to wherever i feel like singing at that moment.................just to confuse things i tune down a step anyway so when i tune down to g its f then capoed up to wherever x
