Roll Call: Clonakilty

This years (and possibly the final) Clonakilty is rapidly approaching! Last year I made up little badges to help people identify each other. I've not done that this year since I think most of the "regulars" know each other by now, but there'll hopefully be some new-uns as well.

I'm going over with my wife on Saturday 21st and we come back to Blightly on Friday 27th. Unfortunately for us we didn't find a viable alternative to Ryanair in terms of getting there quickly and cheaply so we expect to be subject to the usual delays and surly service. We're staying at a B&B in Clon this time.

Who else will be there?

Paul.

myself and a friend are going on the sunday night (note to self - find somewhere to stay...) and will hopefully spend the saturday night in kilcrohane on the sheepshead peninsula - a lovely out of the way spot - and the monday somewhere else in the general area. a third friend has pulled out so if anyone (well someone who really wants to go and hasnt got a ticket yet) needs a ticket for the sunday night i have one that i'm willing to swap for something reasonable - maybe a pint or two... sorry if undercutting official ticket suppliers is out of order but the ticket is already paid for and i dont like to see it go to waste.

I'm going - was planning to get there on 19th, but now can't (have a spare ticket for 1st night if anyone wants it) and will fly in on 22nd at some unearthly early hour of the morning!!!  Stayed at O'Donovans last year - liked it but fancied a change this year, so booked into Emmett House, Clonakilty (the organic food won me over!!) and will go straight to the new hotel at Cork airport after the gig on 26th and fly back to Stansted just after 8 a.m. on 27th.

We did O'Donovans a couple

We did O'Donovans a couple of years ago and it was quite good, and definitely convenient, but expensive and a bit noisy. This year we're giving Macliam Lodge a try on the recommendation of a couple of cockers from Oz.

Well I'll be there ...

for the gathering and the final gig ... staying first two nights at O'Donovans ( V handy for gathering ) then second two nights at the B&B at the campsite .. so handy for any late night camping antics !!

I'm a newbie as far as the forum goes. Long time Harper fan - and I was a member of the mailing list a while back. Had one of the t-shirts, but that's got lost somewhere.... Anyway, I'm there for the Sunday, the Gathering and the Thursday. We've rolled it into a family holiday so will be around all week. Looking forward to it very much....

Say Hello

Hi Gribs

I dunno who you were from the mailing list - and if you had one of the t-shirts it was quite a while back now - but I hope to meet you at the event. Ask Tracy to point me out if you don't know me! Fingers crossed for the weather but to be honest I'm not expecting anything other than lots of rain... this is Ireland after all...

Paul.

My mailing list email

My mailing list email address would have been the same as the one I'm using now. I think. To be honest, I don't remember posting much - but I was a keen reader :) I'll certainly make myself known somehow....

CLON 2007

Finding it impossible to contact Ian Crop. by phone/ email/ text despite him sending me an invite to share transport etc. Anyone out there got any news about him? I have no credit card at de mo as still sorting out mum's probate and living in homeless hostel until I buy her house ; so can't book any tickets for gigs/camping/ferry/tshirt etc. but have immediate cash.. so may just hitch to Fishguard/Pembroke which is no problem (pop in and see my daughters and afficianados of Roy Harper in Cardiff on the way) but won't be able to carry family tent etc. and hit Clon with a fair wind and hopefully all the tickets have not been sold?

My precious!

Why does it always rain on me?

Have geo-located Ian and it's looking good for Clon!

As for the weather who gives a flying penny farthing!?

I would never have forgiven myself if I missed this once-

in-a-lifetime-gig experience! Let's all do a sundance when

we get there and sit back an' laugh as confusion will be

our epitaph!

<Reminder- don't forget my Atlantic swimming trunks / baby oil / fishing rod / busking guitar, and, to eat between drinking sessions!>

Onward and sideways!

I must be mad

Hoping to do the lot - out on the 18th (leaving plenty of slack in case the public transport doesn't go according to plan, eh Paul ?  ), and back home on the 27th.  Looking forward to a good break from the normal routine (and, maybe, some better weather, or am I being hopelessly optimistic?).
