Well done!

Paul: thanks for some great entertainment.  You accompanied me all the way into town and back, with rarely a smile off my face.  Got a few odd looks from passers-by :-)  Got my constitutional in, purchased my copy of the Word, worked up a sweat and was entertained the whole way.  Thanks again to you and Steve.  I'm with Steve on cricket and The Green Man, BTW :-)

Thanks!

Great work Paul - a really well-presented and entertaining programme - one of the most listenable of the many podcasts I've heard!

Looking forward to the next one...

Podcast

Not long got back from some sunshine in Turkey!  Been catching up on whats been going on and just listened to the podcast WOW! This is brilliant Paul, what a great idea, I like the format, a bit of news, music and an interview with another member of the community.

I really am looking forward to the next instalment, thanks again Paul for organising this.

Good overall

Two comments Paul, good overall btw.

1) Would recomend moving the "by kind permission" bits to the front, to make sure people know they can't redistrubute the music in isolation.

2) They is a risk you may be heading towards "The underlying vogonity of whatever it was about".

pd's picture

Hmm

I can't say I agree. Putting the legals at the front is completely opposite to any podcast I've ever heard and makes it very likely that people won't listen to more than the first 10 seconds, in my opinion anyway.

How about "Roy says I can

How about "Roy says I can put his music in this podcast you can't take it out and use it."

Yeah, that's probably the

Yeah, that's probably the right compromise to make - summarise it at the start and leave the gory details to the end since they have to be there somewhere

Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff...yeaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!

Wow.  As the podcast went on I could feel the chilled out vibe getting kooler and kooler, so by the end I was there man!

Nice work Paul!  BTW I listened on iTunes.

Their version was X-rated - explicit being the term used but I guess you edited that bit out?

regards

It was I that added the

It was I that added the Explicit rating, because I said "bugger" during the podcast and Steve referred to mild drug taking, so it seemed sensible to err on the side of caution for this and future episodes

Thanks for the kind comments.

Not the B word!

My brother called our Great Aunt a "Bugger Beast" when he was about seven years old and she never spoke to him for twenty odd years.  He was the one who found her and attended to her when after a stroke she collapsed in her bathroom.  Ironic justice I suppose.

Personally I don't think the word bugger or the reference to being slightly elevated is in the least bit 'explicit'.

Podulike

I really enjoyed this, listened whilst doin’ me ironing; ooh, how rock ‘n’ roll can ya get? Great format and for a first go the reproduction quality was brilliant and certainly radio worthy. I’d had those same thoughts about reissuing Stormcock as it’s also my fav’ album, part of me feared the possibility of silk purse into sow’s ear syndrome (mainly from the aspect of aural familiarity with one of the most played albums in my collection) and part of me was fascinated by the prospect of booklet, poems and writing. The podcast has made my mind up that it’s definitely something I want to own, both from Paul’s Zep’ remastering analogy and Steve’s point that it’s Roy’s work after all – fair to say I eagerly anticipate it. Steve’s role as ‘Guineapod’ was fulfilled with considerable aplomb and the interview was top entertainment. Whenever I get together with Steve Bayley we both end up a bit ‘special’ (except for a few days during an extraordinary week in Egypt) and I tend to forget what a splendidly eloquent chap he is. £125 for Led Zep tickets – yikes. As for how Paul & Steve initially met…probably filed under ‘special’ again. I too look forward to the next instalment. Nice one Paul, you’re a natural mate, not even the merest hint of ‘Smashie & Nicie’.

Special?

As in that well known Brighton delicacy Special Brew?

'Special'

More like Withnail, "I need to go out for a while, I feel 'Unusual'." or try spangly for size...or maybe very, very happy but a tad staggery and unlikely to remember any embarassing antics in the morning. (grin) 'Thoughts are but dreams till their effects be tried'
