Paul was born in May 1965 in Ilford, Essex. His interest in music started with his first album purchase of "Tubular Bells" and he hasn't looked back since then. At school he developed a strong interest in computing after seeing his first computer, a Commodore PET, which was one of only two that the school owned. A degree and MSc in computer science followed, and while at University Paul started going to gigs in earnest. Roy Harper, who Paul had first heard when he was 17, became a strong favourite and for many years to come a near-endless number of gigs were enjoyed.

Hello, as you will notice I've done some updates to the site:

• I'm trying out a new visual theme that's a little less bland than the previous one
• I've upgraded the site framework software to Drupal 5.2 for some bug and security fixes
• I've installed a brand new forum. You can reach it from either the forum link on the orange bar at the top or the "View the Forum" link on the left under "Forum Activity". I was unable to transfer across all the old forum posts, but they still exist at http://www.stormcock.net/forum. I think the new forum is a big step forward. It is meant to synchronise with your main site account so you shouldn't need to create a seperate forum account.

Please let me know of any problems.

NB: You may need to Log out then back into the site to make your account work with the new forums.

Roy reads this out just before he sings "I Hate the White Man" or maybe after he's sung it not sure which I still have to nail down which album it is on. It is on a bootleg recording The Red Lion Folk Club Birmingham 1984 Show 2 but I was positive it was on an offical album as well but having rummaged around twice now I think my old brain cell is acting up.

Apparently the piece is from a book of native American verse called 'Touch the Earth'. As Roy says the piece below is by Alleek-chea-ahoosh who is also known as Chief Plenty Coups.

Last summer, I took the whole family to West Cork for a holiday that included seeing Roy at De Barras and attending the Gathering.  Two high points for me in an otherwise uneventful year apart from work, my yougest son being diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and general entropy!
