Hi,
Wasn't sure which section of the forum this should go in ... thinking this should be an "OFF" topic ... but I didn't want to ristrict the audience of this story ( also been sent to the email list ) ... and it is of course about the Harpers !!
Last week ... I went to a mates house in Uxbridge ( Chris "the builder" Hoyle ) that I haven't seen in a while and he told me an intriguing story ... about the fact that he has met a guy at a car boot sale ( & believe they have now met on numerous occasions ) looking at some vinyl and my mate Chris asked ( just been friendly ... he is another northern Chris after all ) this guy what music he was in to :
Chris : "Aye up .... what music tha into" [ he dunt really talk like that ... been down sarf for too long !! ]
Stranger : " erm .... mainly Roy Harper " [ obviously expecting, like we all do for Chris to say "Who ?" ]
Chris : "Oh ... I'm not into him .... but I have a mate called Chris who is"
Stranger : "not Big Chris ?"
Chris : "yeah that's him"
Stranger : "Oh I know Big Chris ... been to loads of Roy & Nick gigs 'with' him"
The stranger then went on to tell Chris, that he used to own a record shop and has seen many many harper gigs over the past few decades and kept saying that he knows me.
Now I used to live in West Drayton ( for 10 years ), just down the road from Uxbridge ... and unless my memory has been too fried ... I'm sure I never knew any harper fan just living up the road ?!?
So if you believe this stranger in this story is YOU .... please get in touch !!
