As I've mentioned from time to time, I am a big fan of The Firesign Theater.
The Firesign Theatre are contemporary with the start of Roy's career, except they are four comedian/satirists with about as many recorded albums as ROY.
Peter Bergman has reincarnated his 1960's LA-radio show "Radio Free OZ" with brand new podcasts, 5 nights a week. His co-host Dave Ossman is also a member of FST. RFO's first new episode was "Earth Day" 22 April 2010. It's opening theme, for now, is a reggae inspired lament "O, Afghanistan!"
Many of you may enjoy the mostly talk format with eclectic songs mixed in. The show is a liberal POV on current events, rich with political humor, satire, and silly spoofs. I hope this will catch-on and these guys will exceed the magic chemistry that was uniquely FST.
A couple years back, FST began to reunite in an undeclared 40th anniversary tour of their various early albums. Philip Proctor is the self-declared American Don Quixote, just as Roy is the English version! Philip AUSTIN is the voice of their most famous character NICK DANGER -- Third Eye.
Other podcast titles include:
It Takes A Volcano To Frighten A Village!
Cranking Up The Yuan While Breaking A Good Man's Will
Pot Party At The Cow Palace
Cinco De Mayo, But For You Folks, $4.99
I tried to suggest they play a Roy tune, but I'm not sure my suggestion got through as I don't tweet or facebook, and they were de-bugging their new site and adapting their podcast for iTunes.
BTW, Paul. I left a comment for you on iTunes! Neither you nor RFO has cracked the threshold for a rating. I want to cry! :banghead:
