Kaki King? Is that the American girl with the rather curious overhand style similar to Churchill's. She IS good, if it is.

WOW - what a player..
I just hooked up to her MySpace page - it's www.myspace.com/kakiking if anyone's interested.
Trav - a personal favourite that I highly recommend is Leo Kottke's 6 and 12 String Guitar (fave songs on there are Vaseline Machine Gun and Coolidge Rising).

Some Kaki King resources here.
And Michael Hedges anyone? He died just as I arrived in the USA so I never got to see him live but he is a 'mad' guitarist too, quite beautiful too.

Marcie, where abouts in Israel are you?
I know Roy's been over to Israel, did you catch him there at all? I met an Israeli girl in Australia in 1994 and we were both stunned to find out that we were Harper fans! "Oh my God!" she exclaimed as our hands went out to reach for the others "I followed him all over Israel when he was on tour" Natalie was her name, somewhat Gothic in appearance too :D

Hi Trav,
I live in Karmiel. It's a northern town just around 40 km east of Haifa. Roy came out to Israel in 1992 - with Nick - and I caught their show in Tel Aviv (I was living there at the time).
Yep, that must have been a special thing, running into an Israeli Harper fan in Australia. What are the odds?! :D

I've only been to Israel once, family in Shoresh, but my best friend is from Tel Aviv, Gan Yavna to be exact.
I'm still working on turning him onto Harper fan, I think he prefers Oi Va Voi ;)

From "Oi Va Voi" to Harper - that's quite a leap!! All I can say is: Oi Va Voi!! :p
Let me know if/when you decide to come back to visit, Trav.. I hit the Tel Aviv area very often, and travel to Jerusalem (which is close to Shoresh) once every two weeks for work purposes.

Will be checking it out :D.
I think it was Windham Hill that turned me onto acoustic guitar in a big way, my taste' roots are in that sentimental, slow, acoustic sound (branching out in all directions).
