Sometimes you hear someone say something and think 'Now THAT's a quote'. On that had been in my mind (and which I am using in a forthcoming interview) was made by the sadly departed Tony Wilson in a TV doc on Factory: 'all that was valuable was the history we made, not the money we made'. [They made none in the end.]

Tommy Docerty said recently, that 30 years ago we had (football) players trying to be stars, now we have stars trying to be players, how true and how sad. I see cricket going the same way in due course now Murdoch has bought it.

"Imagine that, they have a different name for every day of the week!"

That came from 'Kurt', a homeless guy I used to drink coffee with after work in California whilst waiting for the bus. He had just seen two office workers in suits stirring their coffees, discussing what they would do over the weekend.

"Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid."

One that has always stuck with me is this one from the late great Frank Zappa, and very true!

Wobbly might like this one! I think it's not a bad idea, after all what do two old pensioners need with a house that size?

"The Queen ought to flog Buckingham Palace to the Americans to run as a theme park and then pay for a hospital in every city in Britain!!!" - Jon McClure, Reverend And The Makers

"A second flood, a simple famine, plagues of locust everywhere, or a cataclismic earthquake I'd expect with some despair... But, No! You sent us Congress. Good God, Sir, was that fair?" (LYRIC)

"It has come to my attention that one useless man is called a Disgrace, two useless men are called a Law Firm, and three or more become a Congress!"

Both uttered by John Adams in "1776-The Musical."

I have NO IDEA what he thought of how other governments handle their affairs...
