I just got Robin Williamson's latest. I have the original vinyl "5000 Spirits" Lp, with that glorious cover art. Who else is a fan? I heard that Paul McCartney is. News Flash! My favorite Scottish band Forever More is now available on CD for the first time! Here's the link:http://www.amazon.com/Yours-Words-Black-Plastic-Forever/dp/B000X6OMSM/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1199135438&sr=1-4

I love the String Band, also what I have heard of Robin's solo work, 'myrrh' and the one that includes 'the man in the van' - as you can see, I haven't heard them for a time. Must dig them out.
"The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter" always perplexed the kids when I played it in the car!

Count me and Mrs WS in.
Mike Heron was 65 earlier this month. Makes you think ...
Robin williamson has done some fine stuff - as long as he doesn't allow Bina to sing. My favourite is his "Wheel of Fortune" with John Renbourn, but Mrs likes all the Celtic stuff - "Glint at the Kindling", "Island of the Strong Door" - that sort of thing.
I was a young man, back in the 1960s ...
And it's bloody true, that's the problem.

i saw bina singing with the reformed ISB a few years back, i quite liked her out of tune warbling.
Has anyone listened to C.O.B.? clive palmers band. both of their albums are excellent, not quite as quirky as ISB but quite strange and beautiful all the same.

...Bina? Who is COB? Who are the McPeake Family? I feel I'm on another planet here!
But I do know of ISB! They were on the Bronze label (who ever came across the infamous Lilian Bron? Blimey, that woman had balls - ha!) where I did once work. And, useless funny, their manager was a lady called Suzy Watson-Taylor - universally referred to as Suzy Whatson-Telly! (well, it USED to be funny!)

bina = robin williamson's wife/girlfriend. se sang with ISB when i saw them, i thought her singing was quite charming.
C.O.B. is either Clive's Original Band or Clive's Own Band or something else altogether. Clive is clive palmer who was in ISB for the first album or two (and again in recent years i think...)
mcpeake family are a singing, harp playing and pipe playing family of old irish folkies.
You can find the mcpeakes and c.o.b. on time has told me (http://time-has-told-me.blogspot.com), have a look down through the artist index - theres loads of great folky stuff there to download

Okay, I'll take a look. I am not a folky person - The Twang's my kind of stuff, ha! - really. If it's folky folk that is, rather than today's indie alternative type folk, which I do like.

I couldn't really call myself a hard core fan of The ISB, but I've got some of the stuff. I bought '5000 Spirits' years ago, purely on the strength of that freaky cover, and was quite charmed by its quirkyness. Then 'The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter', which really is quite odd. Apparently, its one of Robert Plant's all time favourite albums!
I have a really old tatty copy of 'Liquid Acrobat As Regards The Air' which I found on a car boot stall, which I think is my favourite of the ones I've heard. I've just noticed that Gerry Conway, now of Fairport, plays drums on it too!
