Things like this, make my world turn to gloom.

This has been happening for years, and for years to come it will continue.

Man's greed, limitless suffering.

We should be ashamed of ourselves.

Then do it! Being a veggie isn't all wet lettuce and insipid soya beans y'know. I haven't eaten veal for probably 28 years and any other meat for at least 20. Never will.

meat eater, but dont eat veal.. never have, never will...
dont have an issue with eating meat (former veggie - long story), but not meat where the animal has lived its entire life in a small box... :/

we try to buy only freedom foods (doesnt include veal, and i dont eat beef - lived on a cattle farm for years and i just formed too much of an attachment) and since the hugh whitingstall progs on the tv i have noticed that the supermarkets are cashing in by upping the cost of freerange chooks!
i am astounded and disgusted! for a roast chicken dinner for my family of 8 it now cost £2 extra (on top of the £5 extra they already cost me over broiler birds) if i am to buy the chickens from the supermarkets! :cursing:
cant wait to have a garden big enough to grow me own chooks!
anyone catch any of the kill it cook it eat it progs on bbc3?

How could you raise something, then kill it?

I know I couldn't.

I agree wholeheartedly with what your saying, I am a meat eater and eat most meats available however I have never tried veal and never will, it does tend to go against the grain for me personally..that may sound a bit strange coming from someone who eats meat 365 days a year but I do hold the view that there are limits to what we rear for consumption and what is just downright unethical.

chicken arent animals tho, there are veggies out there with bigger brains!! honest! i know that what ever i keep will be kept as humanly as possible and what ever girls i keep i keep for eggs for 3 months. i have 5 children and 1 step, we get through a lot of food in a week! i would rather know where it comes from and not pay a huge price for the fact they are allowed daylight, space, grass etc.
they arent pets, they arent cute and sweet and cuddly, unlike cattle or sheep or rabbits or pigs (ok maybe the pigs arent so cuddly ;) ) they are good for eating scraps, their poo is great fertilizer and they are great with cinnamon and roast spuds!
