Do you remember where you were when Maradonna scored his hand-of-god goal. I was at the Sun Hotel in Hitchin as The Hitchin Folk Club were hosting another Roy Harper gig. Another excellent night - apart from the football and the people who threw up their chinese takaway just in front of the stage.

I was at home shouting uncontrollably at the telly. These days I pay little attention to England games at all.

I was married and living in Peterborough at the time, and I too recall a lot of shouting and cursing that night, it's one of the few events that are talked about to this day, in fact almost on a par with the great historic world wars we were involved in!!

In a hire car travelling around Cyprus all day. Cyprus Radio played 'Imagine' for 24 hours non-stop and I had to several times brook my tears.
When President Sadat got assassinated the TV stations in Baghdad replayed the whole shooting episode over an over again for 24 hours with pompous militiary Saddam Hussein band music in celebration.

i was due to go home to my parents as grandparents with whom i lived were going to ireland the next day, but my mother took it so hard (not sure she actually knew who lennon was, was just a good excuse) that i had to stay for another week and my grandad wasnt happy he had lost the money on the ferry and had to rebook.
i didnt know that this was the day or what was what until about 10 years later when my grandmother told me.
mother had said that everyone would remember, except me, but turns out that i did *insert fingers up to mother sign here*
