Has anyone come across a piece of software for the guitar called "Strung" by Minstrel Media Software? Looks to be in the early stages but the demo song that comes with it for you to play with is "Love Junky" by Nick Harper.
Also Nick's Knuckledraggers is provided as an example with the original track and with the vocals removed (not the best example).
The software claims among other things :-
You can create backing tracks from mp3's
Analyse mp3's and extract notes and chords
Slow down music tracks
Remove sound tracks
The area that looks interesting is the planned developments.
Does not work under Vista until the next release, so I am a bit stuck in trying this out so any feedback would be useful.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
I will probably give this a try, but feedback will be that of a novice.
I need as much help as I can get!

had a go of it, and found it frustratingly difficult to operate. This inclusion of Nicks song is good but I would think Love Junky would be too difficult for most beginners, i'm thinking this software is a university project as its overly complicated in the extreem.
I use Guitar Pro 5 is I need to use anything which is simplicity in itself and 27000 tabs to boot.
Alas no nick harper yet... hehe

I agree that Guitar Pro 5 is very good for notation, but it is the other options that I was interested in.
The facility of loading mp3 songs and slowing down the speed or changing the pitch was of interest.
I was looking at the Tascam GT2 Guitar trainer for this, but this software claims to do this.
With the other features of creating backing tracks, removal of vocals and the facility to extract chords/notes from mp3's by using the editor would also be useful.

When transmitted the frets seem to have shunted up to the Nut so will not make sense. Am working on a way to obviate this.
