Hi All,
Yesterday afternoon I saw the current exhibition at the S.H. Ervin Gallery at Observatory Hill in Sydney.

It's part of the collection by Ted Harvey of shots which he took at the 1972 Sydney Showground gig. I was there that day in Feb '72 and it remains a focal point in my teenage years. Ted Harvey mentions on his site "an odd set of circumstances" which caused his photos to be consigned to his shed for 38 years. That "odd set of circumstances" was that a Sydney magazine had commissioned him to photograph Led Zeppelin's Sydney gig with a view to publishing the results. Apparently, the magazine went to press with pics from one of the early gigs in Adelaide and Ted's work was not required, whereupon he archived it all. See his website for the rest of the story:

Some great shots here - you really have to see them in extra large printed format to appreciate the power, though.
An interesting musical occurrence yesterday was that as I arrived at the gallery with a friend (Michael) who was at the Led Zep reunion in London, we ran straight into Bob Daisley, former bassist with Chicken Shack, Rainbow, Widowmaker, Sabbath, Ozzy, Uriah Heep, Gary Moore ... Bob also was in a band that was big here in 1970, Kahvas Jute. They were a four piece, two guitars, bass and drums and an absolute powerhouse. You can find their CD 'Wide Open' plus a reunion DVD 'Then Again' which I recommend without reservation. It was a real buzz to see Bob and reminisce about Zep. A very nice Sunday afternoon's entertainment.
cheers,
Pete,
Sydney
