Smoking Rope

I apologise if this has come up before and i missed it...

Now shaun 1, why is your tag line "smokin rope is crazy"?

Is it sourced from the fact that ropes made before about 1900 were made out of hemp - the ones on the old ships with sails and whatnot? In fact i believe there was a big craze when they started getting decommissioned, people would go and hack off a length, wash out the salt and skin up!

It sounds mad now admittedly. It's interesting the history of dope. Someone once argued to me that it was all racism that it got banned. Basically, one of the lines used at the parliament was "it's what the blacks smoke." Unbelievable now days.

It's strange how it was pushed through like that - we couldn't dream of doing that now and wouldn't want to anyway.

I heard the other day that down south in some islands somewhere, the sailors and pirates used to dock up for their leave. They'd go to cafes and the like and sit around smoking hash. Now after a while the became known as hashasins - basically, the feared pirates who smoked dope. This word was then over the years changed and adapted and is where we get our english word, assassin. Interesting eh? The whole world was built on dope! :biggrin:

i believe the cotton manufactors had a huge hand in the criminalisation of hash as hemp was a better substance and undermind their produce.
my dad told me that, so could all be testicals, he does spout off a load of it ;)
