Right, was talking to Jan (Edinburgh promoter extraordinaire) about this last night and if Harpic does it again I think we're in. Can't let him show us up 2 years running
I'm practicing my out-of-breath gasps and wheezes as I type this...

Also.... one of my dear friends doug is doing a sponsored creme egg for lhsf - hes going to try and eat 16 eggs for lhsf - if you fancy sponsoring him - please visit
http://hackenbushherald.freeforums.org/dougs-creme-egg-challenge-t790-15.html
So far hes got £100 with warnings that we don't want to see the end photo of him throwing up - but seriously if he can raise cash for lhsf hes a fine chap by me.....

I would really like to attend this, I'll have to see how fit I can get by then.
Incidentally, my ID 'mugshot' is of me on the summit of Snowdon, quite e few years ago. I finally made it after 20 years and many attempts. The weather always seemed to stop me; well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

We seemed to have strayed off topic a bit in the "introduce yourself" thread!
Now, although we don't know whether young harpic is going, but it would still be cool if we could show our support for this great cause - and I'm sure a lot of people are going from this realm. So let's have a provisional roll (role?) call, and see if we can organise who's going to bring what. I'm talking cakes, jammy dodgers, custard creams etc...
katrina
07-03-2008, 06:59 PM
It would be very nice to have quite a few of you here to take part. It was a lot of fun last year!!!
A roll call would be great and can someone bring some bourbons creams!! although jammie dodgers are fine too!!!! lol
Critch you are a man after my own heart - biscuits and chocolate yum yum.
Also my darling sent you a pack so come on everyone lets have some fun!!

i am strongly debating it. t'will be almost a year to the day my grandad died (mostly of old age, he was 90, but the complications of his prostate cancer had a huge impact of what he actually died from) and i wanted to mark the year, end my mourning kinda thing. but dragging 5 children up snowdon :confused1::blink: ya know???
scotpaulabear
11-04-2008, 04:40 PM
Still debating this - the money up front would be a major problem, as is the time off work to get there in time, but never say never! (unless you're talking about how often I can get my arse in gear to exercise - NEVER :tongue_smilie: )

Wonderful memories of Capel Curig, Caeder Idris, sheep appearing out of the mist, babbling singing brooks, boots and smelly socks by the logfire in the Lounge Bar. Might pitch a tent in Llanberis Pass but definitely no rock climbing this time. The only rocks I'll be doing will be smoking them!

Think I'll come along. It's a bit of a drive, but do-able in a day. There is a YHA at the col if that suits anybody better?
How much (in total) do we need to raise to be eligable?

******************
Well you can do it a couple of ways depending on how many are coming from here - we have a group rate of up to 4 people and the group has to raise £400 in sponsorship total.
Or do it singular and each individual has to pledge to raise £200 or a couple of you are official walkers and we do allow an unofficial walker if they are with an officially walker but they have to raise sponsor money as well.
Email me if you want further details katrinac@kcopping.fsnet.co.uk
Be great for you all to come - its a lovely day and don't forget there is a gig in the evening.

You'd have to raise your spelling of 'eligible' for starters!
If Critch can get there then I'll have to! Even though we gotta pay for a gig after and raise sponsorship money by annoying all your friends for months asking them to sponsor you! Just trying to find out if my logistical support [Ian Cropton} is likewise thinking of it.

Unless I've misconstrued your mssg you obviously are going to sponsor me then? Unless, unless, you were were referring to Nick's attendance? Now that's worth a sponsorship just for blantant cheeky impudence.Innit?
All donations welcome, no obligation, no matter how small, any spare change? See I am a trained busker and learnt my trade dilligently as had to have three dogs & puppies to support in those days! Only money accepted , no Winalot 5Kgs bags please!

I don't know how to transfer this to the Snowdon Thread, I expect Paul could, if he deems so (I have - pd)? At the moment I only need your Postcode and town [so I can put you on the LHSF sub form] by a PM here or email to aspwatterson@hotmail.com
Will only chase you for the money once I've performed the onerous odyessy done in love in June. Am not on the automatic charity giving online thingy so it'll have to be a cheque or postal order made out to LHSF in the post.If you put in on the Snowdon thread you may get innundated with requests for sponsorship mind!

PM about to be sent, Andi. Happy to help.
And he's the last person I'm sponsoring who isn't Harpic, just to warn everyone. ;)
I really wish I could go on this but I suspect it just won't happen - too much work stress and the like, I'll be lucky to walk halfway up Arthur's Seat before June... :crying:

Arthurs Seat [Caeder Idris] my favourite mountain where we spent many days up there in a tent by the black lake with an amazing backdrop of a 1000 foot cliff behind. We tripped and we skipped above the clouds composing songs and playing guitars in 1972ish. We made a pact together that we would return at the dawn of the millennium 28 years later. Steve, my Pompey friend, remembered and reminded me in 2000! Not too onerish, a nice gentle climb following the stream up from Lake Bala.Would thoroughly recommend it to any aspiring mountaineer as it is absolutely awesome. The Brecons are also pretty easy to do if you know the quick way up from the south side then it's pratically all flat along the top for miles.
Ancient legend says that if a man spends one night on the Caeder Idris he'll come down insane. Well that must explain it then with regards to me being an ex-loony on the bus, because we were up there for ages mentally and physically. Mad? I've been mad for years! And proud of it!

I think Ian Cropton is coming [hopefully I 'll be using his kindly transport and personality?] but sometimes he doesn't reply for days if not weeks. You could give him a nudge on his My Space. I have emailed LHSF and they have not replied for a few days..
...do you have to register with the £100 first and then follow on with the sponsorship monies when you've completed the onerous odyessy? Had a sore foot for about a month now and desperately hoping it will be alright.. just a blister which has developed into a very painful callus...no money for chirpodists, any medical advisors out there? Shall I just cut it out with my rusty Stanley knife? I presume the gig at the top will be in the Cafe?

Can you email me as I am the one organising it and I have answered all the emails that have come into my box - policy of the charity every email is answered the same day unless I am away. So best direct your questions to me - email address katrinacc@yahoo.co.uk
I have also sent you a pm about the event.
Like all charity events like this you have to register to secure a place and then follow up with the other sponsor monies.
But please email me for any questions rather than just asking on here as sometimes I don't have enough time to visit here every day :) Sorry I know I should say that but running the charity in my spare free time and doing a full time job - means I sometimes run out of hours :) lol xxxxxx
Thanks for your support

They were building the cafe last snowdon rocks and the top of the mountain isn't a building site to be honest - quite beautiful standing there with the clouds flying past and great music.
Youve got my email so please if you have any problems contact me there.
