Bought tickets for this back in November and been working up to it for months.
The night arrives, the crowd arrive and its a good showing. I met loads of guitar freaks in the bar.
Support act didn't say his name but a great jazzy man and acoustic set.
Then Nick came on..
He started quietly, coughing between lines, supping beer, vodka and Vicks cold remedy, looking really ill...I was worried...
but then
Bang; he was sing high and low blasting out my favourite tunes...how? I'll never know.
Brilliant tales from Nepal interspersed amused us then some tosser heckler piped up. Nick slagged her off with Zappa's 'What's the ugliest part of your body', then went and gave her and her mates their money back.good that was the end of them...
Back to finish the tale..
Then Nick went mental, blasting out tunes powerful and beautiful..that the time in the gig when you get lost in the music, melodies, dynamics and harmonies incredible for one man and a guitar..
Ending on a massive version of love is music the crown was stunned in rapture and went home mystified wondering when he was coming back to play next time.
The acorn is a great venue and Penzance an amazing town to be in, would recommend any fans to visit next gig and spend a few days here too..
