I've just watched that and read all the comments on the page, and I feel really, really depressed now. It may show how easy it is to misinterpret a work when it isn't taken in the wider context of the entire canon, or at least to distort the words into a message of hate.

This song caused a wave of disquiet among my own support when the record came out, and I know that I lost a few people because of it, but for me it was just a song written in a long tradition of my songs. People could maybe have considered it imprudent to step outside the bounds of the religion I was born into, to criticise another which was ostensibly outside my cultural sphere, but for me it was written with the same kind of impassioned appeal of the bible belt happening from The Sudan to the Indian/Chinese border and beyond. The monotheist apologists all try to cloak their own religions in the guises of peace-loving brethren, but that's always been a lie, and especially in the case of christianity, from time immemorial. I'm very tired of it, and I don't want to hear any more flimsy excuses. Any more pathetic, rabble-rousing stupidity. Well over half of human society knows this, and yet we still continue to feed our own designated monsters with fast flowing blood. It's difficult to write this at the same time as knowing that most of the people who are caught in the most seriously deprived poverty traps are also caught in the most extreme expressions of a religious mania caused by that poverty.

Religion also has a history of promoting nationalism/tribalism, which isn't all that bad when it comes to Home Rule for Peshawar, because at least then the Peshawar mongers benefit from their own aim ... but if that aim is taken through the sights of loaded poverty of spirit, humanity as a whole may eventually become threatened by what inner Pentagne to Peshawar has concocted at one local Baptist Sunday School. The theory of World Government would purport to alleviate this ...mmm... As this book is written, in 2003, the more basic elements of religion and nationalism seem to be taking the world over again. It may seem to stray too far into sarcasm to propose that hopefully, it's just people exercising their right to protest against being forever lumped together as a predictable mass. Globalised.. But all I ever really see are flags. Of convenience. Of self-righteous religious agenda. Of distant and dishonest forms of compelling economic constraint and financial impediment levied against equality by fraternities of magalomaniacal rich goons "A tooth for a tooth and we'd all be gurning". Yes. I'm totally behind the song in many respects, but I think snatching it and posting those images behind it does no favours for Roy, I tried to message the user but YouTube is down at the moment and it's not possible to send a message.

So how does one properly complain about Internet offensivity? Do you go to the police if it's bordering on the criminal / racist angle / inciting ethno-religio-hatred. How do you complain to the search engines / servers / group providers and know they are listening to you and will take action?

I'm not sure to honest. One could send a polite message to the "user" or use the "flagging" option to flag the video for why it upsets you.

No need for the Police though, let's not over react to these things, especially when there's a large element of truth / reality being portrayed ;)
