Lancashire! Great, isn't it? (as a rule). I'm in Blackburn (there's an exception to every rule, of course).

I have friends in Blackburn it's only 13 miles from me, and was once mentioned in a song by some famous group, also from the Northwest!
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes
it takes to fill fhe
Albert Hall.

Thanks for the welcome...
Linn, I'm afraid I've not heard much of Roy's stuff, but I've heard his lad recommends him...I'll have a chat to a lad at work who's a big Roy Harper fan and has seen him quite a few times. I only discovered Nick last year - saw him at Pacific road and then again this March at the Brindley. Am looking foreward to the next one...
Technically, I live in Warrington,Cheshire...but as I was born in Warrington, Lancashire and haven't moved I still consider myself a Lancashire lad!
Cheers,
gigfy

Hey gigfy
I was at Pacific Road last year! Did we meet? If you bought a CD we would have done - that was me and Darren (the opening act) rushed off our tootsies!
I'm sure you'll find a few people on here willing to enlighten you to Roy!

A good start would be to listen to the podcasts, Paul selects tracks that the initiated and uninitiated will like..

The only connection I had with the place was where BICC used to make their electrical power cables which I used to sell in the Middle East. Could think of more a more conducive palce methinks? How about Lands End and John O'Groats now we've got to do Everest, Snowdon and Machu Pichu just to commune with the stars? Top of the Great Pyramid Cheops on Giza Plains outside Cairo perhaps or inside the King's Tomb?? Petra would be interesting. You Northerners always stick together, perhaps we'll have to have two meets to accomodate the North/South divide?

... as a political and economic refugee from Blairescu's England who has been granted informal asylum status in the real North West (of Skye and Lochalsh), that your "north" is now a place I travel through to get south.
There used to be a road sign on the A87 near the Kyle, pointing to Plockton and Achnasheen that said, simply, "The North". In those days, when we had already travelled several hundred miles in that general direction, it was almost depressing.
A strange Einsteinian concept, no doubt.
Love to all,
WS
