Well, it may be a while off yet, but on October 8 Nick will once again be off trekking in support of the LoveHopeStrength Foundation. This time in a 10-day trek to Peru's Machu Picchu: 'The Lost City of the Incas' at 7,875ft above sea level.

You can already get involved by donating to LHS on Nick's behalf by clicking on his name in the link below.

More details to come over the next months, and lots more exciting news!

Well I had my mum die of cancer and also Peru is a fantastic place to indulge my birdspotting passion and Cuzco is a base for bird holdiays there as there's an expat brit running a company for birds there so I'd have 2 reasons to do the trek.

I'll put it off for this year though and see what LHS organises for 2009.

Not so gentle reminder this time... yeah I know the economy is crapola, but it is everywhere especially in Peru, so let's all have one or two or ten less beers this month (after the RAH obviously  ) and cough up more to cheer our kid on!

Cheeky girl or a potential member of them!

I did not do Snowdon cos of my bad foot which Ian Cropton and my latent, erstwhile chiropodist will vouch for. And, furthermore I can't do Peru which my ex-mum's solicitors will likwise vouch for. How many vouchers do you need?

See you up Snowdon 2009, that's a promise, with a guitar as well.

I did though send Snowdon 2008 £50 as a gift from a £100 giro so I am definitely going to Harper heaven mate! Also intend contributing to the Peru campaign when funds allow....cheers andipandishly :o

Andi, that's lovely of you that you gave that amount. But please, you and anyone else, don't feel bad that you can't contribute more or anything either physically or financially. These are cash-crunching times and it is hard for a lot of people.

But...everyone CAN contribute something by, as I've cracked on in previous posts here about, by spreading the word around online.

Now, I'm off back to MySpace to press on!:)

Peru Rocks has so far raised an estimated US$100,000 (£56,000); the final figure to rise from donations and DVD sales. A fantastic achievement that will do much to help the lives of cancer sufferers in the Andean region.

Thanks to all those who supported and contributed.

Photos from the last days in Peru up on the Peru Rocks site, including Nick at the Lima show. All photos that appear on the site were taken by Gary Noel.

I'm back and thank you so much for all your messages during the trek - Jackie and I really appreciated it - so much so - I cannot express it in words.

I'm still in a whirlwind mixture of emotions, jetlag and wowwwwwwwww did it really happen - so may be posting over a few days.

We arrived in Cusco a day early to get acclimised to the altitude - and were greeted by the whole of peru being ground to a halt by a general strike. We had to have a police escort through cusco to get to the hotel (http://hackenbushherald.freeforums.org/supporting-katrina-t1660.html#) as every other car was getting rocks thrown at them!!!! Coca tea seemed to help with the altitude and I loved Cusco - the markets were fantastic and I became really good at bartering....

The trek started with a two hour drive with some of the bridges being destroyed in the strike - I am sure you caught the footage of the buses going over wooden sticks!!! I am so glad I trained hard for this trip and I did my three treks up snowdon. Although I still felt I could have done more.

The temperature was a lot hotter than the guide books said - about 30C - hence why in every photo you see me wearing my hat. Each day we left camp really early and trekked until about 6 pm. The scenery was amazing and Jackie and I have tons of photos - which I need to sort out and bore you with. Once we started getting higher the altitude really did kick in with the trekkers who lived at higher altitude striding past us brits who were huffing and puffing. You couldn't seem to regulate your breathing so had to so specialised breathing techniques and then stagger on for a few more steps. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed the trek but I am fed up of stone (http://hackenbushherald.freeforums.org/supporting-katrina-t1660.html#) stairs going up and down!!!!! They were steep. But my back, knees, legs didn't ache at all during the trek and even walking 10+ miles a day wasn't a problem.

However, nothing can describe the emotional when you climb over some stone steps and are greeted at the sungate with the sight of macchu picchu in the distance - I got goosebumps to be honest and emotional. I just thought about everyone who had supported me during this trek and everyone who has supported lhsf uk - you were with me every step of the way in my mind.

After the train ride back down to cusco and then onto lima - we made a visit to the hospital. One of the guys from fastball brought his guitar and played some songs to the people receiving chemo. In the hospital, all the patients have their chemo together and listen to music - it was nice to met everyone there and I wish I had learnt a little bit more spanish (http://hackenbushherald.freeforums.org/supporting-katrina-t1660.html#). The money raised is going towards a van that will travel through peru villages checking people for cancer and offering information. Nothing can compare you to the difference in health care there and it makes you thankfully for everything.

The trip has been amazing, and I cannot thank anyone enough for their support, its made me even more prouder to be involved in LHSF UK, I made some amazing friends on the trek, realised how much I value friendship etc - I know I am getting cheesy but its the truth.

I hear the next trip may be Mount Kilmaja - sorry cannot spell that and Las Vegas in October - so I can hear the grand Canyon (http://hackenbushherald.freeforums.org/supporting-katrina-t1660.html#) calling me now...... but before then its snowdon and maybe another mountain in uk if I have my way.

Kxxxxx

More tales to come when my mind is less jetlagged.

Great to hear Nick again and look forward to meeting some of you shortly.
