Does anyone have info on b & b's around Arley hall. I've tried the hotels listed on the house Site and they are full. I'd probably need to stay over two nights as the train from Kent to nearest station takes nearly six hours and the first one gets me there at 4pm with four changes!. Surely there must be a quicker way. Which station is closest? The web site only gives driving instructions. Help please - anybody.?? I can camp if there is a field around or someone's back garden.:confused1:

I would say drive or lift share if possible coming from south. It's train to Stockport or Manc and then change for Northwich. Will PM you a few hotels.

I have been looking on the website and am being realy thick but I cant see where they recomend hotels.
I am local ish and it is not easy to get to definately by public transport, so it will have to be taxi from northwich to the hall. I can find local numbers and prices if you like. I have a full car so cannot offer lifts sorry.Northwich station is a bit out of town.
On the B&B front the only town centre(Northwich) I know of is http://www.hotels-northwich.com/ I have been told it is ok.
others worth trying are
http://www.hotels-northwich.com/ (very near Hartford station if thats an option on rail travel and a couple of milesfrom the town centre)
http://www.4hotels.co.uk/uk/hotels/hartfordhall.html
http://www.iknow-northwest.co.uk/accommodation/3036-premier_inn-northwich_south-northwich.htm
hope this helps and ask again if you need anymore help

Thanks for reply Jane - the site I was looking at is http://www.aboutbritain.com/ArleyHall.htm not the official independent Arley Hall site. The hotels there; The Hartford/Wincham are full but Floatel now have rooms at £49 pppn in case any one else is interested. As Linn says, trains from the South are a nightmare and it means that I'd have to take a day off work and 2 nights in a hotel or b & b to be there for a 1pm start. I think I may just catch Levs at Arundel instead but I will be sad to miss Dreadzone. When Linn said they were playing, I took a second look at the possibility of going. Still thinking about it....

Linda, could you stay in Manchester? If you got a lift back there or to Northwich station? I think it's a doddle to get from one to t'other, and I know a hostel near Piccadilly  (Hatters - haven't stayed in it but it looks fine!)
I shall be there in full effect with my mate Philippa, who's been into Nick for years but is useless at posting on the forums ;)

Helloooooooooo Stormcockers - hanging out at t'internet caff in Manchester before I head back up north! Not only did we make it through yesterday with a lot of sun and NO RAIN WHATSOEVER (huzzah! made the mud we churned up more palatable LOL) but we had a faboo time... sorry I didn't run into anyone from the forum there, sigh! So there was...
A lot of this :m16:
A fair amount of this :17:
Couldn't possibly comment on this... :sifone:
And a fab group of mates, can't beat it :22:
Nick was indeed first on, as everyone sitting was pushed back behind the mosh pit exclusion zone... everyone had to shout to the poor lad to tell him that we hadn't kept our distance cos he smelled or owt LOL. I did go up and get a few pics (was feeling a bit self-conscious but I couldn't resist!), and YAY to the kids who went up and 'moshed' themselves, ROCK ON!
It's a shame that it took the first 10 minutes of his set for the sound to settle in - LOUD! QUIET! REALLY LOUD! QUIET! - but eventually that got sorted. And then his laptop was misbehaving *sigh*. But then it all came together and we had a lovely set of just under an hour:
Building Our Own Temple
The Field of the Cloth of Gold
Aeroplane
(started In Our Time to tease us, but...)
Simple
Guitar Man
By My Rocket Comes Fire
Imaginary Friend
Galaxy Song
Love Junky (with very well 'timed' string break during the middle eight!)
Fashion report (slight return): black button-down long sleeved shirt, the usual jeans, and big f-off Doc-ish black lace-up boots. Well it WAS a festival!
Lots of people in the crowd being really appreciative - heard a few gasps during the string break! Even my moany mate who always teases me about how Nick's music annoys him admitted he just winds me up, and he had a great time... Sadly the crowd didn't really get off their arses into the 'pit' till 3 Daft Monkeys after him (who were as always rockin').
As for the other bands (yes there WERE other bands haha), Seth was fab and very adorable! I'd never seen the Chumbas or Dreadzone live but both were great, I enjoyed hearing the lyrics of the Chumbasongs and couldn't stop skankin' to the Dreads. I even really enjoyed the Levs, LOL...
It was a beautiful day... roll on BOMfest!

I think he may be following a pattern here. Same set (and attire!) near enough as Eastleigh, bar Aeroplane but he DID do In Our Time and Wiltshire Tale (as string broke right at end of preceding Whole Lotta Love).
I *think* the BOMFest set could be interesting...
The Dreads are always great live and Spee can really get the crowd going. Didn't know you were a big Levs fan Paula, or do you only see them when Nick's on the bill!

That was pretty much as we found the day too Paula, sorry not to come over I worked out it was you when you were the only woman taking photos(I was up front near you controlling my kid who was taking photos with my brothers SLR camera) by the time I got a chance to come over I lost you again.
My kids were happy to hear the galaxy song live at last:D and a great day was had by all my lot - will post some of sons photos later

I wouldn't say that! Have seen them a few times up here Harper-free. Prefer the acoustic version (and I have yet to see Drunk in Public, though I've seen Rev Hammer on his own, and he's great). But yesterday's gig was right up there with that on the pleasure level for me.
And sorry we didn't meet up Jane - next time eh? And were you with the moshing kids? ;)
