Re swearing, if you can't get your message across to people without using profanity then you have a problem. That's how I feel anyway so that's why there's a filter.

Hmm, just looked at my Sky Remote Control and the answer was almost there, except there's no star on that particular beast. There used to be one on my old phone though ... 7, P, Q, R and S are all on the same key.

Once saw a license plate "HI HO AG" in a newspaper article on cryptic LPs. Is there a HOAG road in Britain? This is my best guess, sticking with the Lone Ranger association. That'd be a silver-brick road.

The answer to this riddly puzzle is thus. A stretch of highway north of LA plays the opening bars from Rossini's William Tell Overture when cars drive over grooves in the road!
Don't say this forum isn't educational!:) Good one for a pub quiz night.

I remember hearing about this, and it turns out most of the people who have to drive the road every day are furious about it. They find it tremendously annoying, and those who approved it were under attack. Don't know the current status... Wonder how many new tires it's worn out...

The riddles were the 28sep09 post by Andi.
1.(vac)ANT ENG(aged) with the dial stuck halfway between the two possibilities.
2. Break up the answer (Balladeer) to the first clue "singer" for the other answers to the remaining clues.
But really, Linn, it's no fun for you if I have to explain it for Andi.:D

I well thought it was that too. His hair was smarter... couldn't spot the hole in the bottom of the lowden, but then I hardly ever see it... has it been fixed maybe? Guitar was downtuned, pegs were still the banjo pegs....fruit based laptop was there.... sure it was the same pedal set up as last time, although I think that was different from the instore gig in St Helens.... think it was the same microphone (I am that sad, I did look! lol).....

New Lowden, no mousehole :) That's the one he was playing at Birkenhead, it's smaller as well. Though I'm very happy to see the mousehole-den is immortalized on the album cover  He probably wouldn't leave the new one in the snow LOL.

OMG. Can't believe it - all the signs were there! I remember looking at the guitar and thinking it looked small, and I also remember wondering if it was actually the lowden in the snow or whether it was a cunningly doctored picture...

The guitar was very kindly given to Nick by the aforementioned (in Masque thread) Brian Dunn last year.
Can't believe no one spotted it earlier...although admittedly, there have only been a few dates so far. I thought maybe Paul would have done at Cambridge and was waiting for him to say. :D

No, I am hanging my head in shame because I didn't realise despite being so close, in the front row, that I could probably count his nasal hairs. I did actually notice that the scratch marks had gone and pondered briefly whether he'd had some restoration work but then the music took hold of me and I forgot all about it!
