Hi paul. Welcome on board. Like you, i first saw nick at a festival, although i managed to chase him out of the gate and buy a signed album. Never done that before or since.
Anyways, if i were you, get yourself a copy of "Double Life" and "Blood Songs". If you've got some spare cash after that then get the dvd.
If you want to find out more about Nick, the try Paula's site www.Houseofharper.Co.Uk (i think from memory). Also, there are plenty of videos on youtube to have a look at.

I stumbled accross Nick for the first time at a festival too. Like you I was completely blown away. Haven't been quite 'right' since to be honest. Maybe welcome to the club?
Last night was very good but Nick only had time to hint about what he's capable of. I'd go with Critch's recommendation of Double Life. It's the nearest thing he's got to a 'best of' compilation and captures something of Nick's Live intensity.
The Love Is Music DVD might be one to get as well, although I think it has a bit too much in the way of people talking about Nick Harper and could do with a little more of him actually playing.

Treasure Island maybe a good place to start too, some great stuff on it. :m1: :m2: :m8:

Hello you!
Did we speak then? Where were you standing? How did you know me? Thanks for the comments elsewhere! I'm flattered.
Glad you enjoyed it. Shame he lost so much time and another 40 minutes of songs.
Yeah, I'd go with DL and Blood Songs too for starters.

Hiya Paul! Sorry we all got chased outta the tent cos I would have been happy to sell you some CDs
I'll go with a 'me too' and suggest you start with DL and Blood Songs, though I think Miracles... or the DVD wouldn't be bad choices either. Heck, just buy all of them, you will eventually anyway :D

Yes I forgot the DVD! It is superbly put together and a great insight into Nick and his music. It has just the right mix of music, gig footage, interviews with Nick & others. 'A must have'.

Hello there, nice to see you! :D
I can't really add much to the recommendations, as the other folks have advised you well, I reckon.
However, if you're looking for an insight into the man, the mindset & the string-breaks of Nick Harper then the DVD is a must-have.
It might just be easier to buy everything & then think of a good excuse for your bank manager later, though!
Seriously though, enjoy the forum & future Nick gigs. Life will never be the same (only better) after becoming a Harpic fan. :D

Don't worry, in due time you'll be "recruited". I'm linn's chief bodyguard and escort in the st helens/liverpool area.
First rule of harperspace is you talk about nick as much as humanly possible.
The second rule of harperspace is you talk about nick as much as humanly possible. :D

Based on Nick's last appearance at The Citadel, St.H, a bodyguard is essential. St.H makes Baghdad look tame.

No, no! For me you have to a) not dare say a bad word about The Twang b) look as good as Caleb from KOL does in skin tight spray on jeans :blushing: c) can serenade me with a few bars of Ronson's Stop Me d) know where the nearest A&E is (oh, that one probably only applies to critch - ha ha!).
But generally everyone was lovely and helpful to me in Barnsley (except a moron taxi driver, who lost the fare and huge tip as a result), esp all the backstage staff and Stuart the stage manager at BOMFest itself.

Hi,
Just signed up so I can join in! I first saw Nick a couple of weeks ago at the Beautiful Day Out mini-festival. I have to say I'm rather ashamed of myself for leaving it so long, being that I was first invited along with friends some ten years ago or more! In my defence, I have been a Roy Harper fan since around 1979/1980 and frequented plenty of his gigs when he was still gigging (hope that gives me a bit of credibility !).
That said, I REALLY enjoyed listening to and watching Nick and I'm only sorry that I hadn't allowed my ears these delights much sooner. Nick's set was brilliant and well received, but it was a shame that he was on so early in the day before the throng had thickened....... and my, there's no mistaking that he's his father's son when you hear him!
Next task to procure some Nick CD's.......
Love Pixie xXx

It is Graeme D as you have probably already guessed as you are now one of my friends!
I am now aware that I butted in on a Nick Thread - so I will add my bit.
First time I saw Nick Solo I too was Blown Away and that was at Morecombe in and old Train Station supporting Roy, the had a go at Mr Station Master at my request.
I Bought 'Seed' and listened to it 5 times in a row when I got home (Lucy was on a night out and got back late) needless to say I think Seed is one of Nicks finest.
