Probably depends if you get sucked in and forget to cancel the trial period and they start sucking money out of you for the rest of your life? Not being cynical but....?

emusic is excellent. I've been a member for a few months now after taking up a referral from Bob Jacobs. I've been downloading stuff like Jackie Leven, Show of Hands, The Black Keys, Aphex Twin, Bevis Frond, Happy Rhodes, Davy Graham, Dick Gaughan... I've spoken elsewhere about downloading music for free. If you want to be "legal" this is a really good way to go about it, at least until Amazon decide to open up their mp3 downloads to people outside the USA.

It's very good value for money and the mp3s are high bitrate and tagged correctly - and no DRM.

If I refer a friend they get 50 free downloads, and so do I. So if you are more interested in the music and less so in audiobooks, this seems a better deal.

Perhaps we should all try out the site, if there's a way to download Roy's music. Any spike in demand has the potential to get more airplay and free publicity.

I suppose they DON'T have the authorization to sell ROY's music, and in the long run it could dilute ROY's potential earnings from his own site.

I think now these days most artists recognise the enormous rewards of giving free music away via the Internet as a way of spreading their message. The don't need a whole record Company's marketing department now. Just IT specialists!
