... but keep an eye open for Pip and Adam Wood in the mob at the Cluny. Pip was, until v. recently, Ms Pip Wee Steve, and they're still grinning.
She first saw NH at Stansfield in 1993, and is still grinning.

Daughter #3 (see above) reports an excellent night, musically, repartee-wise and in-the-bar-wise.
She did observe that the "chat" in the early part reminded her of a certain father of Nick, but it was none the worse for that. She also was highly taken by the encore with "Titties and Beer".
On top of all that, a friend went along with them and was highly impressed, so another convert ...

Yeah I was there. Nick was very chatty, Talked about Roy a bit and revelaed that Roy had told him "a few days ago" that he had a sister!! He seemed suprised but shared it with us!!! Said she lived in Wigan. He played "Crazy Boy" for his dad. Encored with a superb "Tities & Beer" with excellent devil impressions!!! Also talked a little about Milke Peters of "The Alarm" and how he (Peters) had rung Nick on what would have been his Mum's birthday and asked hiom to do the Cancer charity mountain thing - he felt fate gave the opportunity to get involved.
Anyway a great 2 hour set - sorry not that well up on Nick's songs - some old some new - no broken strings though.
An audience with a lot of young faces (i'm 52) - made me wonder where they all heard about Nick from!!??

er, I would say:
1. Nick's webby (I've done some unofficial surveying at a few gigs, and by far and away the two responses received when asked where there'd heard about the gig it was his own website, followed by word-of-mouth)
2. from a friend
3. Alan Nichol's sterling promo
4. Dim's posters...which, um, SHOULD have been scattered across the Tyne
4. oh, yeah, I did a bit too!:D

Were they? Last I heard you were checking with 'our friends in the North'. I'm sure they were. I was saying should in context of I wasn't sure, but I didn't word that too well...thought after you may have read as I was saying they should have been thrown in the Tyne! (I wasn't, honest!).

It was a good night, very chatty and most of the songs he did were my favourites so that made it even better.
Didn't notice many familiar faces (apart from two people) and a lot of the audience were young and no-one (apart from a couple of us) stayed back afterwards to say hi to Nick so I am assuming they were probably new to Nick.
I noticed posters (in fact I brought two home with me).
Nick appeared to take the "sister" thing completely in his stride.
He mentioned to me that new material is on it's way in the autumn.
Dare I mention the Crocs???

Haha, flattery will get you everywhere :D, but seriously they are great... just not in a city on a hot day when walking miles as I discovered one day :blushing:
