If you were lucky enough to hear Nick's new song 38 on this tour, I don't know what you think of it, but I personally can't get enough of it. It has become the one I am most eager to hear each show. The emotion and vocal heights he reaches on the chorus send shivers down my spine.
Heard this top tune at Runcorn, Nick considers his songs to be living breathing things so to give birth to yet another quality tune is testament to his writing talent. In addition a large part of this is the way he delivers a song, looking forward to a new album with similar gems!
Am going to check the lyrics to 38, as looking at what was posted in the Chester thread there were a few ? in some places.
Don't forget that this is currently work in progress by Nick and is bound to evolve as time moves on.
I think I may know that. But I did get the third verse - I knew there were kings horses and kings men in there somewhere.
Latest: this is as best I recall from last night at Cambridge. Having a few mishaps (such as dropping phone into 3 pieces down behind seats in front of me along with notebook - don't ask!:biggrin meant memory, rather than a lot of notes. I walked the streets Like a man with no name Into the bar before the show but on another plain As the faces turned my way I narrowed my eyes Like I'd met my maker But I did not die There'll be no gunflare No widow's cry But there's an undertaker somewhere nearby Wherever I go Whatever my fate I am one of the thirty eight of the thirty eight I'm in the house of the Lord but it seems colder within Though it's filled with the voices of the cherubim And in the tiny houses with the lights on inside Where the little devils play seek and hide with the bigger picture There's a world out there so what can be your troubles? What are your cares? Wherever I go Whatever my fate I am one of the thirty eight of the thirty eight Whatever I do whatever awaits I am one of the thirty eight We'll drink to the children We'll drink to the poor We'll drink all through Christmas And we'll put the world to rights again with all the king's horses and all the king's men Wherever I go Whatever my fate I am one of the thirty eight of the thirty eight
There's 16 secs here from Chester. Hope Nick doesn't know! It's inevitable I suppose these days that everything ends up here on You Tube at some point. I know that at least 3 people have the whole song on vid  including me, but this wasn't ours. http://m.youtube.com/details?v=Lul9feOYYwE&rl=yes&client=mv-google&warned=l&Locale=en_US
WHY oh WHY ? What a waste of time ... what is the point in putting 16 seconds of video on youtube ?! If anyone sees that who doesn't know about Nick's music ... it's just going to put em off for life !!
Good point, Mr Chris. It was interesting though reading through the comments made to the various vids up there. Gives a feel of what people are thinking.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34NdlWtDRfw Version of 38, I think Shaun may have already posted this link though,
