I hope you'll all appreciate I "corrected" the spelling of "Favourite" and not care one iota (or is it upsilon?).
The American spelling of words have always seemed strange to me, I suppose if you're brought up with them it becomes normal, word processors in the UK suffer too, trying to get us English to conform to mispelling our Queen's English
This DEVOLVING Thread ends here! Well, it can be upsetting this side of the pond when the eu forces apple to prefer OED to Webster's in various word programs. Noah Webster standardized American (New World) English over 200 years ago for US when GeoIII tried to tax things over here. Personally, I like the differences. Colloquialisms are even more amazing. "Herb" is a man's name here, and "Herb" with a silent "H" is something you flavor food with. My Mom uses the OED pronunciation for "Herb" whereas I prefer "Webster's" (except when it comes to spelling "theatre").

All Time Favourite Vice: Pork pies. All Time Favourite Biscuit: I don't really like sweet stuff, so I'll choose
Having spent 7 years 'across the pond', I now 'go both ways' and adjust spelling accordingly. There aren't too many differences to be honest.
WAY WAY WAY Across The Pond! I know. But words are so fun, aren't they? And idioms, ironies, etc. And the way you pronounce Garage and Gaol (I guess most Brits didn't know you adopted our spelling on that one... Hee hee hee... Or did you?) (Darn: Here I forgot to try the multi-quote button.) Is WEE STEVE suggesting Flavour Flave's real first name is Herb?:confused1:
