    Hello,
I've been trawling through the web looking for decent N.H transcriptions, they are hard too come by so I decided to transcribe Blue Sky Thinking. I did try to post it on here but i'm having trouble, so if anyone would like a copy let me know and I will email it through for you.

    cheers

    Andy.

Time Is Temporary was chosen as a kind of "lead single on the internet age" for Roy Harper's new album Man & Myth. It has been around for a couple of months so that I was able to learn it and upload this lesson while my pre-ordered copy is still somewhere between the Roy Harper Shop and my mailbox.

I have loved this song from the moment I first listened to it on Roy's website. And I find it quite extraordinaire that the man can still come up with a song that easily ranks among my favourite Roy Harper tunes. I just find it so incredibly beautiful in all its delicacy and simplicity. And a great lyric, too.

As far as I can tell Roy uses an unusual tuning for this one (DADGCD). The only thing that pulls me back is that I don't think Roy has used this tuning before. But it sounds pretty spot on like this. Anyway I am sure that sooner or later footage of Roy playing this song will pop up on YouTube and we will be able to check.

NOTE: meanwhile, I realized that The Stranger, from the same album, uses DGDGCD. So there's a difference on the 5th string. This doesn't really change anything because Time Is Temporary doesn't use the 5th string at all. Anyway, I believe that DGDGCD would be the correct tuning to play both songs.

    ...and BUY THE ALBUM!

That's funny BS; coz I've had to relearn several tunings and remember that one or two strings are at different fretboard positions whilst playing them. Blooming nightmare from DADF#AD to DADGAD to DGDGCD to DADGCD to CGCGCE to CGCGCF to open A,G, F7 etc etc.. and all those other wondrous tunings that Nick & Roy accomplish. Got a Baritone now, so can play Miles Remain but need a lead guitarist like Matt to for the lead, and a sound engineer!

    Hi there Andy,
Sometimes a small difference in one string makes a big difference in the way you play it. I used to play Tom Tiddler's in DADGAD and I was wrong, it's DADGBD. I know a lot of people played How Does It Feel in DADGAD but it doesn't really work, it's in DADF#AD.
In Time Is Temporary's case I got the 5th string wrong but it doesn't matter because you don't play the 5th string at all.
I could use a Baritone right now… Check my latest vid on Heaven is Here. The DADGAD is tuned 2 tones lower – a nightmare? I've been playing Rushing Camelot which is even lower (one half tone) – now that's a nightmare!
    Cheers!
