Another worthy cover put up recently! Higher tuning than the original but lovely sounding. I've got the Baritone now to do it in B or A and it's just a matter of time for the fingertip strength to catch up! Anyone worked out the extra slidey bit he does on the Debarras recording with Matt Churchill? It sounds like D shape moving?

Previously he did it like this; which I have just found :

For the guitar geeks on here am on verge of buying a Ravish sitar pedal and it might compliment this song in a wild way? Anyone used one? They're a tad expensive mind!

    Hi everyone

I am new to the forum and an avid Roy Fan since 1972. I also began to start to try to play guitar then .... and I am still learning, lol. (At least now my missus says she can recognise most of them.)

    Try this link to YouTube

This guy is the 'mutts nuts' for Roy's music. There are lots of other tutorials too and I have learned lots about alternative turnings from here. It makes sense of the songs and make them much easier (and more accurate) to play than trying to make standard tuning 'fit'.

Doesn't help with trying to sing like Roy though!!!

Here is an updated guitar tutorial in its original key and featuring all of Roy's guitar parts. Cheers!

Thank you so much - great tutorial. You have taught me so much on your you tube channel - keep up the good work.

I agree with your comments about the effect pedal. I have been experimenting with echo pedals but never managed to find one that replicates that 'symphonic' sound that Roy gets on his recordings and live gigs. Have you got any suggestions?..... or has anyone on the forum got any suggestions?

I had planned to rework this tutorial for a long time because it was incomplete. Finding your post here a few weeks ago finally made up my mind. So now it is finally done.

And thanks for the thumbs up.

Roy's sound on this song is probably the work of lots of delay/echo and reverb. I believe there's also some chorus effect. Maybe you should try and ask this guy called Reece Tatarka who has a YT channel and does a few instrumental RH covers. He uses all those effects and it sounds good so maybe he can help you.

    Cheers!
