This is a tad late but better late than never! My son and I went to see Nick at the most unusual venue we've yet visited. Now, I was expecting a cinema that had been partially converted into a launderette but had a concert room as well. No, it was in the launderette! About 30 people enjoyed fantastic and intimate performance from Nick (plus support, Candi's Dog who were very entertaining) among the washing machines and the Omo (which, Nick informed us, women used to put in the window to signify 'Old Man Out' so they could be visited by 'friends' for entertainment. An audience member said that round there it meant 'On My Own' for the same reason). Nick was playing fully acoustic presumably because of the size of the room. The string break was dealt with early on during the first song and after that it was full tilt for the rest of the concert. Juicy Fruit Girl was played to a newbie lady who I think was suitably impressed, especially when Nick presented her with a pack of Juicy Fruit at the end of the song. Lots of stuff I really love, including The Magnificent G7, The Kilty Stone, Karmageddon , Sleeper Cell, By My Rocket Comes Fire, and another fabulous performance of Titties 'n' Beer as well as the aforementioned Juicy Fruit Girl which my 19 year old son loves and sang along to word for word. We were within touching distance of Nick all night, almost playing footsie with him. Nick ended the gig by going round and shaking hands with the entire audience. A thoroughly enjoyable night made to feel like a very special shared experience by the intimate nature of the venue and Nick's natural conversational skills and his extraordinary talent for including everyone.
