First opportunity to hear tales of the Inca Trails from the intrepid trekker at The Bear, Marlborough on November 9.
Proper! Don't know about advance tickets though. Telephone 01672 512134, which is The Bear (himself!), for details.
??? Can't really see how they are going to ticket at the Bear ... great place to see free gigs .. but will be a bit chaotic to check tickets etc ( this is assuming they have it in the same bar ) ... cos there are at least 3 doors into the room where the "stage" is ... will be interesting !! I'll be up for it ... though alas can't be drinking ... as I start by Jury service the next day in Aylesbury ... don't think they'd be too chuffed if I turn up late and hung-over ?!?!
Sorry, didn't make clear. It is PROPER, ie as in full gig, but also free as in, well, FREE! Look at a provisional start time around 7 - 7.30 pm (tbc). The place isn't that big so anyone going, get there early. There may be a piece in the local paper too beforehand so that likely to attract more. Who's up for it then?!
Might this be one for Ms Marcie too? Chris, had a few enquiries wonder if you know off the top of your head: what's The Bear like for disabled access? I remember there's a few steps up to room from main bar, but am I right that the door in room where Nick will be is on street level? any idea what are The Bear room rates are? There are at least 3 people in need of! The Lamb is asking £50 single or £80 twin.
The room that Nick plays is on street level ... but I think there's still one step from street level into the room ... can't be 100% certain, but I have a feeling that some people sit on the step just inside the door. Officially ... the Bear does not have room to let !! They are only available, to people who are "invited" to stay !!
Well ... if the website says so ... and you previously published a phone number ... then why don't you phone them up ? They must have improved things since last time I went ... because I was offered a free non-ensuite room ... probably because trevor knows the score ... I either don't stay in Marlboro and nurse a pint all night ... or he gives me a free room ( to share with a mate ) and we buy 20+ pints from his pub ... makes sensible finances to me !! So what I'm saying is ... if you end up paying for a room ... then fair do's ... but if you get a free one ... then don't take the p i s s ... make sure you spend enough money in his pub !!
If anyone needs a room for the night.. I've got spare rooms in Basingstoke [free!] and not a million miles away from Marlboro' country if you have transport to get there and back. andi the landlord 07913107782
Well, shame on you Phil!:biggrin: I know there's a man going to this with a harmonica (Dylan?). Don't know whether he's an offical support or not.....
For all you Wiltshire goers on Sunday. There will be a support on at approx 8.15pm. A guy called Tom. Sorry, I have forgotten his last name blushing, but it didn't ring any bells at the time - only that he is solo and there's no Dick or Harry with him! Nick will be on stage at approx. 9pm.
Ayup! Haven't got round to popping in for ages! Me, Jane, Rupert & (hopefully) the Munky will be there.... love Moth
