Okay, so I'm a bit slow. I just realized that there is a profanity filter in place here. That just seems a bit weird to me for a site devoted to Harper fans, but perhaps there's a hosting agreement issue that makes it necessary. To be honest, I've signed onto so many different forums that I tend to skim through the canned TOS text that usually comes up when registering. I do that because it tends to be just that, canned, and often has little relation to the board's actual TOS. However, now that I stagger through the various subfora like a myopic lemur, I don't see a more customized "Read this before posting" thingie. If I've missed it, please cf. above re: myopic lemur. So what I'm asking is, is the profanity filter just a default thing, or am I really not supposed to be posting everybody's favorite Germanic monosyllabic synonym for fornication?
Ha ha ha... No, it's nothing to do with the hosting company, it's just my little foible. I am of the perhaps-mistaken belief that people will express themselves more fully and coherently if they don't resort to simple four letter anglo saxon words. Also I don't restrict read access to the site for anyone that's not registered, unlike some sites, so I wanted to keep the offensive content low in order to avoid triggering some of those "this site may be dodgy" filter programs that some people use these days when browsing. That's all, for feck's sake... :leaving:
Well... Well that effing told you then! I'm still smarting from having *****ly censored when talking about eating Japanese seaweed..see, you can't uncensor override it whatever you do...ok I'll give you a clue it rhymes with Dickily...see if that neatly circumnavigates it? c/a
Does this mean I can't say Scunthorpe? (Edit: well... it looks like I can. There are some forums where even that is censored!)
Puns, not double entendres "Bumsen" has two syllables.... F'yer consideration... Fur Consolidation sale... Shhh! It better be quiet! See, isn't being clever more fun?
