Well, I'm editing the interview at the moment. I have about 90 mins of source material! At the moment I haven't edited out too much as I'm enjoying listening to it (which I guess is the best yardstick for what others might or might not enjoy). So I think this one is going to be a bit of a monster...

Should be out in a few days.

I'm still in my costume from last year!

Well, that would be appropriate for a Halloween release date!

    It's out...

Podcast 35 is unleashed. It has an interview with Jack Cramer, from these very forums, and includes a track written and performed by him along with the usual news and music from Roy.

It's a long one, mainly due to the interview (Jack can talk!), but I didn't want to chop it down or split across two episodes.

    Acknowledgement(s) for "Model Woman"

I’d like to acknowledge the helpful suggestions I received from Chicago Blues Guitarist Gary Gand in improving the two guitar parts for my song “Model Woman” heard in Episode 35 of The Roy Harper Podcast.

Gary suggested I try adding 9th chord(s) to my accompaniment. In time, I changed a short interlude to a quick E9/12, D9. I also use the D9 as an accent.

Gary also pointed out where in my lead guitar I could easily play multiple notes together. This took practice, but once I mastered it, I experiment with different variations until I was happy. The lead phrase remained the same, but it sounds so much better thanks to Gary.

If your interested, you can check out Gary and Joan Gand's store website at www.gand.com and at gms@gand.com.

    BLOGS, Comments and PMs

Please note: Over the next few days I will be posting comments about the Podcast, my song "Model Woman" and the process of recording it and my "other contributions" to the podcast on my personal blog in the Blogs section of the Stormcock community.

But right now I have to go out and rake leaves all day (and all month until the leaves are done). I'll get around to my other comments before too long.

In the meantime, please leave comments, even if it's just to say, "You know, Jack, you use the phrase 'you know' too much!"

Don't forget to pm me also if you want to get together with other American Stormcockers at some point in the future.

Thanks, Paul. It was all great fun!

(BTW, I did mention "I retain my copyright" in one email, though it is not a "registered" copyright at this time)

MODEL WOMAN - lyrics w/ Copyright notice

I noted Podmaster Paul indicated I hadn't given him a Copyright notice at the end of Podcast Episode 35. Well, part of that is due to the problem of pasting text into emails from Nisus Writer Pro -- I always put the Copyright Claim in my Header, and I discovered too late Headers get eliminated, or need to be pasted separately.

Anyway, I claim my copyright officially here. I am using the date I completed the basic song (not all the additional embellishments for the recording). If enough people like it on the Stormcock Forums, I can always make it available elsewhere, but for now, I kind of enjoy knowing it may bring a few more people into the world of Roy and Nick Harper.

Model Woman lyrics (and melody) by Jack W. Cramer
copyright 6 May 2008. All Rights Reserved.

    Why, Oh Why
She’s always the first to cry
She tells the big old lie
    and she won’t back down

    No excuses
    Whatever she chooses
    she easily bruises
    every night in town

    What can I say?
    I only met her yesterday

    Everyone, everywhere
    Pretty flowers in her hair
    Fancy free, without a care
    Never see her frown

    She’s a “Model” woman
    So she’s technically human
    But it’s all an illusion
    In the public’s eye

She’s young, knows how to flaunt
    Tease the lens she taunts

    Why, Oh Why
She’s always the first to cry
She tells the big old lie
    In her wedding gown

    No excuses
    Whatever she chooses
    She always loses
    When she doubles down

    Love is forlorn
    No rose, just a thorn

    You know she’s never been
    A model citizen
    She’s only been a model
    Halloween skeleton

    She’s a “Model” woman
    So she’s technically human
    But it’s all an illusion
    In the public’s eye

    What can I say
    To make her go away?

    Why, Oh Why
She’s always the first to cry
She tells the big old lie
    and she won’t back down

    No excuses
    Whatever she chooses
    Clubbing or cruises
    She won’t settle down

She was young, knew how to flaunt
    Now she’s old, memories haunt

    She’s a “Model” woman
    So she’s technically human
    But it’s all an illusion
    In the public’s eye

    What can I say?
    She won’t go away. -jwc

    Not only can I "Talk..."

Sorry it took me so long, Andi. I did want to spend some time catching up on Roy's music before I was interviewed. All the encouragement I got here made me work hard at getting a decent recording out of GarageBand. Thanks!

I just added a post to my blog with the announcement I made to family and friends about my appearance in the podcast. I expect to add posts fairly soon about my working in GarageBand for my "recorded contributions," the genesis of those projects, and possibly a regular (endless?) Fictional Blog about the life of someone known as "NoCelebrity."

    NC's Fabricated Life, Episode One

Just to let Andi and everyone else know.

I've started my fictional blog about the life of NoCelebrity after the "stunning success" brought about by the release of Podcast Episode 35 and "Model Woman." (Not to be taken seriously...)

I sure hope people will start posting their comments about the Podcast here once the glow of the RFH performance wears off. I know Paul is curious, but I am especially. I was rather "disappointed" Boors got to put the first ad in the Podcast, but I hear the money offered was ridiculous! :cheers2::rolleyes: What does everyone else think?

Yes I can talk, and I created a new Avatar for the occasion (my original artwork, BTW).

Expect more fabricated Episodes of my alter ego's bizarre life; and honest commentary about the response from my friends and contacts.

    The Secret is OUT!

Well, the enthusiasm has died down after Roy's big Birthday Bash at the RFH and I thought I'd get around to announcing this sooner, but here goes:

For those of you who haven't figured it out yet (or haven't listened to "MY" podcast yet) The "BOORS BEER" Commercial is indeed a spoof! I had the idea a LONG time ago. I offered it to Paul who replied "Yes, Please!" Over a week I collected sound effects with my ZOOM H4 recorder as I tried out different voices and learned even more about how amazing GarageBand has gotten, like programmed fades and other FX. The only sound I didn't record myself was the cowbell belonging to the non-sequiter cow (me again) at the end of the jingle.

"It even has real BEAR flavor" was an homage to The Firesign Theater's (satire) "Bear Whiz Beer" radio commercial from the mid-70s, but the similarities end there. I'm funnier (not!)...

I suppose I could try recording another spoof in the future, but I'd love to try a collaborative effort!

    DISCLAIMER:
"BOORS" and "BUDDY" bear no resemblance to real or quality beers. Any similarities to real beer are a coincidence and not to be taken seriously.

Thirteen Months, Eight Days... (or vice versa)

Well, I'm disappointed this "NoCelebrity" guy seems to be hogging all the space for commentary on Podcast 35. I mean, really, who does he think he is?

Besides, Podcast 36 had all the stuff Stormcockers really want...

Sarcasm aside... No one seemed to notice I subconsciously put a line similar to one of Roy's in "The Game." Well, maybe not so similar. Compare.

Roy: "These Storms have torn and True Love is Alone." (I thought the last word was "forlorn" until I got Roy's book).

ME: "Love is Forlorn, No Rose, Just a thorn"

Bret Michaels (or is it Shakespeare?): "Every Rose has it's thorn."

    VISITORS' COMMENTS WELCOME HERE! (Please?)

Despite my domination of this thread, you are all EXPECTED to make comments here. For instance:

"You talked too much about yourself, and not enough about ROY!"

    "Bugger off, you annoying Yank!"

"I think he's rather handsome, and his singing voice was amazing after listening to him drone on and on with that irritating nasal whine."

"Where do I download the complete album?" (There isn't one, at least until I see more comments, even if I have to put them in myself. Buy ROY!)

    Future Pod?

Paul, had you considered talking to Simon Raymonde for a future pod? Not just about Roy, but his own journey through the biz with the Cocteau Twins and beyond is quite a tale. Many - many - years ago I used to work with his sister. Had no idea until a few years ago when I casually asked was she any relation. :)
