Great stuff - packed with really good material and music. The interview Dave Cochrane was entertaining but the one with Roy was of course the highlight and the confirmation that he is well on the way to making a new record is the best possible of news. Thanks!
Excellent podcast, some fantastic insight by Roy from behind the scenes at the RFH, and the news that the forthcoming album is beyond the pressing stage just finishes this year off nicely, great work..Well done Paul!

It was interesting to hear the esteem in which Roy held the Bedford Players. I certainly think that it was reciprocal. The conductor looked like he was having the time of his life for a lot of the evening and there was also much smiling amongst the ranks.
Great stuff Paul, pleasing that Roy is ready to record some new songs, lets hope some gigs will follow! I understand that any release of the RFH show is not top priority for him at the moment but it would be a travesty if such a wonderful night remains in the vaults but that's only my opinion, lets hope it doesnt take as long as the BBC tapes to see the light of day! DVD and CD box set for next xmas would be nice!:biggrin:
I enjoyed the podcast. I'd just like to say that I'm a young Harper fan, I'm 18 and I think he's one of the most important songwriters from the 60s onwards. I'm a songwriter and musician as well and he's a big influence on me. I was also at the Royal Festival Hall gig, and I must say it was one of the best if not the best gig I've seen.

Well it was the old cliche of Have a Cigar.. though I didn't know who it was for a long time, I just thought it was Roger Waters. Then I think I heard Roy mentioned in conversations about Jethro Tull, one of my favourite bands. So I looked him up and got Stormcock, and thought it was incredible (obviously) That was about a year ago

I have been carefully watching my internet usage here in Austria, as I am using a USB / wireless stick for now and it costs a fortune, but iTunes had other ideas and managed to download the last two podcasts without me being aware! It's been a wonderful and enjoyable few hours I must say, but I'm not sure how much time I left online tonig.... :wink:

I really enjoyed this edition, Paul. I only got around to listening to it yesterday, at work when the volume in the office reached an unacceptable level, which when I frequently reach for my headphones and retreat to Harper Land. What a great couple of interviews, and Roy's thoughts were extremely thought provoking (I am always interested to hear from a performers point of view what the process of performing, including the "admin" entails). You're getting good at this aren't you, Paul? After Roy was so touching and poignant, you pull "These Last Days" out. Great stuff and very moving. Also, I was surprised to hear "Another Day" given such a different treatment. I haven't been much interested in the BBC sessions before now, but didn't realise there are some new surprises in there. Would love to hear one or two more of any songs that have been given a new arrangement.
Better than...(can't finish the thought!) Great group of interviews, Paul! Didn't realize we'd get the treat of an extended sit-down with Roy. Enjoyed it ALL immensely! (Sad to announce, by the way, Buddy the Boors Beer spokesman has suffered a "relapse" triggered by Boors' recent filing for bankruptcy protection after the less than stellar response to last fall's limited advertising campaign. But at least Buddy's first two ex-wives and most of his fourteen children are said to be standing by him in his time of need. It's stories like these that touch my heart...)

Sorry it's been quiet in 2012 on the podcast front! I intended to rest it a bit at the start of the year while I was changing jobs and so on, but had expected some new material at some point during the year (which of course hasn't surfaced yet) and was planning to use that as the focal point for the next podcast. There will be at least one in 2012, I already have an interviewee on board with an interesting subject matter, and we'll see what happens with regards to the new album Paul.
