    Anymore info Linn?
I saw the levellers last week in scumhampton and then climbed Snowdon saturday night/sunday morning when the weather was foul so a revisit in better conditions appeals to me.

Hey Vatman :) - I don't think it's really a nightime venue somehow. Imagine stumbling round in the dark there! You's end up in the moat dry or otherwise. Very similar to Caerphilly castle by looks of it.

SNOWDON ROCKS 4 / RHUDDLAN CASTLE ROCKS 2010 / RHONDDA ROCKS II (Supported by Barclays)

    Saturday August 7th, 2010 and Saturday August 14th, 2010
    Wales, United Kingdom

On Saturday August 7th 2010, Mike Peters, the internationally acclaimed singer of Wales' most legendary rock and roll band The Alarm will once again host 'Snowdon Rocks' (supported by Barclays) for an incredible fourth year running and as well as the now traditional daytime musical journey to the summit of Mt. Snowdon, Snowdon Rocks 2010 is expanding it's format to include Rhuddlan Castle Rocks, a first ever (post-climb) acoustic concert at historic Rhuddlan Castle with a very special headline performance by UK folk-rock outfit The Levellers plus additional musical appearances from acclaimed LHS Supporting singer songwriter Nick Harper and Mike Peters himself.

Also, due to public demand, 'Rhondda Rocks II' (August 14th) is also going ahead for it's second year running to benefit cancer care for communities in South Wales. Rhondda Rocks features a morning walk in the Dare Valley Country Park, Aberdare, followed by a special acoustic / unplugged concert at the Muni Arts Theatre in Pontypridd featuring a headline performance by Mike Peters and The Alarm with additional appearances from other acclaimed Love Hope Strength foundation supporting musicians.. "It is by popular demand that 'Rhondda Rocks II' is being staged in South Wales, says Mike Peters. "Last year's event was also very successful and I hope that in time, 'Rhondda Rocks' will become as huge a success as 'Snowdon Rocks' has been for North Wales".

In addition Love Hope Strength Foundation will also be hosting ground breaking Bone Marrow Donor Drives (in conjunction with Anthony Nolan Trust) at both events. LHSF CO-Founder Mike Peters says, "We will be asking eligible and able bodied members of our community to come forward and put themselves on the Bone Marrow Donor list. Being a bone marrow donor in 2010 is a simple, painless and effective way of being a life saver. Together (with the Anthony Nolan Trust), we are hoping to break down the myths surrounding Bone Marrow Donation and show people that the new way to join the register and become a Bone Marrow Donor is as simple as performing a Saliva DNA Sample test (by spittting into a bottle). If you are fortunate enough to become a lifesaving match then, via a painless blood transfer process, you could be the one to save a life."

Mike Peters is once again calling on all members of the LHS community who are fit and able, to join him on the mountain for 'Snowdon Rocks IV' and 'Rhondda Rocks II' (Supported by Barclays), "Together we can take the fight against cancer to new heights and this year with the support of Barclays, we hope to raise even more than ever and pledge that every penny raised will stay in Wales to benefit those members of our community who need support in their battle against this most terrible disease".

Snowdon Rocks is the cornerstone event of the Love Hope Strength Foundation UK chapter, and as an individual event has so far raised well over £120,0000 which was been shared between The North Wales Cancer Centre at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd (funding helped build the Eira Suite antibody unit), The Alaw Unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd (which used it's funding to buy two Stem Cell Harvest Machines worth over £90,000) and other donations which have been shared amongst cancer care centres throughout North Wales.
All proceeds from 'Snowdon Rocks IV', 'Rhuddlan Castle Rocks' and 'Rhondda Rocks II', will go directly to support Cancer Care in Wales, the national health service organisation which diagnosed and successfully treated Mike Peters (a two times cancer survivor) for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL) in 2005/06 and Non Hodgkins Lymphoma (1995). Mike Peters is still undergoing long term maintenance treatment at the Alaw Unit, Ysybyty Gwynedd with a view to finding a cure under the watchful eye of Dr. David Edwards who has been Mike's haemotologist throughout both of his cancer battles. Love Hope Strength Foundation recently secured the purchase of two Stem Cell transfer machines (worth over £90,000) which will be housed in the Alaw Unit. Dr. Edwards says “The current machines are approaching 10 years old & coming to the end of their functioning lives. The new machines are state-of-the-art and reflect all the technological advances made in that time. They will take us through the next decade and enable the service to be expanded across the whole of North Wales. Their faster processing-time means that we should get better yields more quickly and spare patients having to spend so long attached to the machine. They represent a major step forward in developing the service and we are delighted that “Love Hope Strength” have made this possible.”

Love Hope Strength Foundation UK has this year attracted the support of Barclays Bank who are getting behind both events by offering financial support and encouraging staff and customers from within the banking community to get involved and climb a mountain in support of the cancer care initiatives that are being proffered by Love Hope Strength Foundation. Also throughout 2010, Mike Peters and members of the LHS UK / US team have been lobbying in Parliament (with the help of local MP's Chris Ruane (Denbighshire) and Mark Tami (Deeside) to bring the UK into line with other international countries such as Canada and Germany who have progressive policies with regard to Bone Marrow Donors. Mike Peters, Chris Ruane MP, Mark Tami MP and LHSF have been attempting to raise the age of UK Bone Marrow Donors from 45 to 49 to help those in need to find their lifesaving match. As a result of this endeavour, a major review of the UK's policy is currently being conducted by Health Minister Gillian Merron with results due to be published in the spring.

Big Chris can I just answer your question and I would come along as you mentioned this query in a public forum.

There are two reasons why we are having an early gig.

Firstly, we would like this to be a celebration of the charity and be open to all ages.

Also, I don't think you realise that the cost of lighting a castle for an evening gig would be enormous for a charity gig.

If you need further information please contact me.

    Best wishes

Hiya Kat, I think I'd like to do the walk but I don't know if it'll like me :blushing: And much as I'd love to, I don't think VIPing it again is in my future haha. But I've got friends up for doing Snowdon/Rhuddlan and I'll definitely join in for the gig. I'll be in touch with you ASAP regardless!

Oh and if I'd rather buy my gig tix from the MPO than from evil ticket agencies :D how do I go about doing that please?

*big hugs* and congrats on putting this together, looks like a stormer

Well you could cheat and go to the half way cafe by walking - that is not too steep.

If you would like to buy tickets from the MPO (Alarm Information Service) there number is 01745 571571 and they will be open again on Monday.

Tickets for Rhondda Rocks should be up for sale shortly as well. Will let you know when and how to purchase.

Anyone else up for the gig or walk?

    Love Kxx
