If you are near to London and want to meet other list members we're having a list meet on Thursday September 20th at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese in Fleet street. Nominal start time 7pm, nominal end time: when they chuck us out! It's an informal pub meet, no special guest stars, no support act, just a bunch of nutters! :cheers2: Paul.
Now I could ... quite easily get offended here !! I first mention I'm off the the Clon guitar festival ... and so you now announce a meet up in London for the sametime !?!?
The Agatha Big Chris plot Don't you listen to and comprehend Roy's lyrics then? It's all a plot and a Game? Of loving circumstance... allegedly.. Hopefully love inflicted-instrinsically-reciprocally-multilaterally-metrosexually - altruistical before you die in this present space & time universally singulariatised on a dot on the landscape of dust on a butterfly's wing? God bless you whatever/ whom-ever you believe him/her/it to be!! aw [sorry, the Ex turned up yesterday and have gone a bit cosmic-memory inspired distraction-wise]. As I have said before it's all Roy's fault naturally! Meaningless meanings!!!!
Meet Cool beans! Will try and make it. As long as Paul promises to take a decent photo of me and I get an early birthday celebratory drink from everybody!
Meet Ha! Yes, I probably do need those special filter lenses a my age - and a lot of re-touching afterwards!
Talking of age... I was explaining to someone yesterday how I felt that the iTunes music download business model doesn't conflict with the traditional CD buying approach, and that the likely markets are different (in my opinion). "Young people these days want instant gratification, they want to see an interesting album, download it, and be playing it 2 minutes later. People our age are more likely to want to buy the actual CD for best sound quality and tangible product". I'm really turning into a curmudgeonly old git  The policeman are really young these days aren't they? When I were a lad ... etc etc
Just a quick reminder that the list meet is tomorrow evening (Thursday 20th). If you want my mobile number in case guidance is needed send me a private message. I expect to be getting there around 6.30 or so. Dave Winstanley points out that the pub is huge and sprawling with lots of rooms (I haven't been there!), and mobile coverage is likely to be missing inside. So... there will be a room to the right as you enter the pub. Check there first. If no luck, head downstairs where there's a large room. We can always decamp to a smaller snug later if need be.
Well, the last one was rather sparsely attended so I wanted to wait a while, mainly for the weather to improve, so that in theory some beer garden related jollity could be achieved. I'd give it a couple more months...
Well...? Summer's here - for the end of this week apparently anyway, with temps in the south up to 30! Are we having a shindig, Paul?
Good and timely question. For those of us at the Trowbridge festival this coming weekend, there will of course be informal meets but not having been to the festival before I can't suggest a time and place for something more formal. If you are going to the Cropredy festival, there will be the annual list meet (otherwise known as "an excuse to start drinking before lunchtime") at the cricket pavilion on Saturday 9th August at 11am for the prompt, noon for the hungover. I normally fit into the latter category. A special attraction this year will be the roaming microphone for some soundbites on a future podcast. If sufficient beer is taken we might try a singalonga Harper session. Or perhaps not. After Cropredy I will arrange something in London at a pub one evening. I would be happy to receive suggestions for a venue otherwise it'll be my usual haunt, the Lamb in Lambs Conduit St (Russell Square) which serves excellent beer, has a garden, is full of old gits and is generally my sort of place... If you have a preference for day of week or location please post to this thread. I generally prefer a weekday and not Mon/Tue. Paul.
I'm not Trowing or Cropping, so it'll have to be Londinium! I don't mind which day, it's just the date: I have a lot of gigs on - and even for you, pd, lovely as you are, I can't miss my Kings of Leon shows - so it depends on that.
