not doing secret handshakes with paula.. already fallen for her wet handshake gag once.. not doing it again
Well if we're going to be specific wouldn't it be better to find the 'centre of Britain' according to population distribution, rather than it's geographic heart? Regardless, I'd love to make the effort and if it's next year it may be doable. :thumbup1:
Good idea. I've been to all the Marillion fan club conventions which they have taken over or partly taken over a holiday resort and they've been wonderful occasions. Thumbs up here
Well I always though Dunsop Bridge was the centre of the UK ?!? Just googled it to make sure ... and apparently there are three places that believe they are the centre !! ( http://www.ukattraction.com/north-west-england/centre-of-britain.htm ) Though ... for a recent event I organised .... Ironbridge seemed pretty damn central ... and most people got there in less than 2 hours from all over the country .... and there's some pretty decent pubs and accomodation near by too !!
actually, sensibly, bristol is the center... quick train from the south west easy trains from london short hop from birmingham and regular flights from the north east and scotland.. however... they are all very very strange.... (and we do know somewhere.. we just cant remember the bloody name...) on a side note.. there is an excellent fancy dress shop in exeter, went in there today to enquire about 2 nick harper costumes, one in small, one in medium/large and they looked at us blankly... do i spot an opening in the market?
Jesus! another Anorak! I've not been to the conventions, but I got my name in 'Marbles' and I'm down for 'Happiness is the Road' too.
As I have already said, I probably wouldn't go but why do things have to be held near to people in the south? I live in the same county as Haltwhistle so if I was to go then that would be ideal for me but I don't call London or the Midlands central to all. It should be held centrally to all those wishing to go, unless of course, people are willing to travel further than others. There is life after Watford Gap you know.:rofl:
33 million people live in the north of England more than any other areas of the country put together too
All I will say is, that if it happens this year, let it either be July or early Sept.! Whether or not I'll be able to travel from the Brighton area is another story.
