So long ago, a different time. I was jail-bait once upon a time too. Was I harmed? I don't think so. So, I am interested to see what would drive someone to initiate a prosecution after such a long time. I was abused by a step-father, a completely different thing. That was worthy of prosecution (but you cannot jail the dead), while I could never imagine going after the others. People get so hung up about sex.
Innocent until proven guilty. Given the potential damage to reputation and livelihood, isn't it time they withheld names until after a verdict in these cases?
Roy's Facebook page has the following message: "Roy vigorously denies the allegations that have been made against him and looks forward to clearing his name."
Does anyone know how this ended? Wasn't the trial supposed to be held back in August? It disturbs me that when you search Roy Harper online the first things that come up are accusations that he was messing with a little girl. Being a chick myself the first thoughts that came to mind is how do we know this unknown girl wasn't throwing herself at Roy? Girls do that sort of thing, even at 12 and they might not even look like they are that young. I had friends at that age who purposely made themselves up to look a lot older in hopes of getting the attention of older boys and young men. When I was a university student I had a summer job working at a resort and the owners had an 11 year old daughter who was taller and much more developed than I am, if she hadn't said I would've thought she was at least 18. She liked flirting with the maintenance man who was in this 20s.
Do you know why it has been postponed? I too have been watching for the trial, and thought (hoped) maybe it had been abandoned. I share Raven's perspective. It was a different time, and I remember being quite willing while under-age, with no coercion necessary. What kind of trauma from consensual (even if under-age) sex lasts for 40+ years?
The whole thing is completely farcical and probably/obviously related to money in her old age. The solicitors, judiciary and the media will also jump on the economic bandwagon. He is an extremely attractive man to women, and am always surprised that when you meet him he's quite petite; but, when he's on the stage he suddenly becomes a towering giant. He has influenced my life's journey since I was 14 when my ex bro-in-law [who's quite quite famous in his own right] told me to listen to Flat Baroque & Beserk and his honesty shines out of him in his lyrics, and his last album last year reinforces this... In those days we were Hippies experimenting with all sorts of mind changing substances which can make you lovingly emotionally caring for those around you. Love is sometimes impossible to control, especially when you are using extraneous inducements.... say no more before I grass myself up! My sister sat at his feet adoringly at his first Hyde Park festy in the early Sixties and would have thrown herself at him. I have had a very emotional year myself [can't believe I am sixty one next month and survived!] with 12 funerals in 12 months and sometimes feel dehydrated with no water left in my eyes. Now one of my best friends is in Winchester emergency stroke Unit Hospital and I have always used alcohol etc. to cope with extreme moments in my life. Yes Andi you drink too much ha! So my defence would be that basically. Surrounded by amazing famous musical people [who might get roped in as witnesses unfortunately] in the summer of love, and if this old bird now comes out of the woodwork she'll have to admit she was straight otherwise her evidence can be easily discounted I would have thought? My sis has got me in Court again next month for inviting her to a party of reconciliation and technically breaching my restraining orders [and done several stretches at her Majesty's pleasure for standing up for my little family] after she ripped us off millions thirty years ago when the Old Bill killed my dad when I was stuck in the Middle East! The judiciary have to go through due process; it's the system where allegations have to be investigated; but I believe it should be quite easy to rip through the prosecutorial evidence, and would reverse the case and sue her for defamation. Let's see how strong she is in Court and breaks down under pressure of exploring her personal private life publically. The old aphorism "Sometimes the Law is an Ass" springs to mind, and I would also cross examine the Judges on their drug/alcohol/sex intake over the decades.... Right! Back to the Hospital to care for my musical friend and try to stop being lachrymose! Sometimes life is a steep hill to climb but it has still been an amazing journey especially when you weren't asked to be born in the first place and gotta die oneday watching everyone die around oneself. My emotional strength comes from remembering all the War heros and our little problems are miniscule in comparison n'est ce pas? Perhaps I am going mad, am starting to like Wayne Rooney! I do know why the case was delayed, but it wouldn't be appropriate for me to say why on this forum ... or in fact anywhere !! The case is due to start on the 19th January and they believe it should last for approximately 12 days.
Really? Why are reasons for delay so sensitive? I thought if lawyers asked for a delay it would have be based on some reason, needing more evidence, illness, unable to locate a witness, etc. Hardly explosive.
