37 episodes and 3 specials exploring the life and music of Roy Harper, recorded between 2007 and 2013.
I've been listening to Roy Harper's music for most of my adult life, and have been to more gigs than I can sensibly count (or remember!). Sometime around 2006/7 I was encouraged by a friend to try out this new-fangled thing called podcasting, to share my enthusiasm for Roy's music with both current and new fans. This podcast was the result. It ran between 2007 and 2013, during which time I conducted many interviews with both musicians and fans, and got to spin some great tracks thanks to Roy's generosity with his music.
It was a huge amount of fun, and also a lot of work. The site it was hosted on (this one) used to have a general fan community portal. That's fallen by the wayside but I wanted to make these episodes freely available again.
Some people that contributed to the podcast have left this mortal coil. Nick Lane, Chris Politzki, Andrew Watterson: I remember you all very fondly.
Roy's official biography is here. However, suffice it to say, in my opinion he is the UK's finest songwriter and his recordings are incredibly diverse - some acoustic, some electric rock, and various stages in between. In a live setting, he's captivating, thought-provoking and extremely funny all at the same time.
